16 years ago today, on August 8, 2008, took these photos of the Ziggurat in the abandoned Fisher Body Plant No. 21.
This would be the last time Hocking saw the piece in person as while he was away for an exhibition abroad, the EPA would begin clearing out Fisher Body 21 and the carcinogenic bricks that the Ziggurat was made of.
‘Hangman’s Elm’ by is a wall mounted sculpture made by casting fallen branches in glass.

’s RELICS are an archeological exploration of a city in a constant state of change and renewal. They are a celebration of Detroit and a means of record keeping. Each box has its own story and their collective presentation offers new things to notice with each visit.
