I am happy to announce that my "Magic Bus" image won first place in the Scenic Utah photo contest for Night Sky photography!

It was announced today on KSL and elsewhere. And I have already sold a couple prints of it on my Fine Art America platform (https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/davekochphoto/art/photographs)- if you want a print let me know!

FWIW, this was lit with a couple LED panel lights set as low as I could possibly set them....

So I am starting to sort through some images from the France trip. I have to start off with my FAVORITE chateau, Chenonceau. It is the best, for many obvious (and not so obvious) reasons.

First off is the incredible beauty of the building itself, which I hope I have started to capture here. The gardens, the atmosphere, the feel.... and the river Cher all add to the magical feeling of the chateau.

Of all the chateau of the Loire, this is the one must-see I feel. This was my third trip and easily the most enjoyable.

Polish Church in Paris. Thats the best I can do.... the name, I dunno. But I can tell you it has 37 letters in the name and only one is a vowel.

First Light

The sun is up, but this valley of goblin hoodoos lies in the shadow of a mesa. The light is softer and more diffuse, but still has that golden dawn quality.

Caramel Swirl

Well, I have returned from The Wave earlier this week, and am busy going through new images now. Here is an image from my last hike in the Coyote Buttes that I particularly like. Note how the color of the rock and the frequency of the sunlight mesh just perfect and give the whole landscape a glowing quality.

Spring at the Temple of the Sun

In the center of Cathedral Valley, you will find the rock monolith Temple of the Sun . We camped the night out there, and we were rewarded with just pure magic. Springtime had the flowers a-poppin' and the coyotes a-howlin'... and my daughter headed to our tent when the clouds started a-rainin'!
