THAT’S A WRAP! 🎬🎬

Today is my last day at Channel 7. Thank you for rocking with me the last two years and allowing me to be on your TV screens. I appreciate all your kind words when I was out at stories, shopping at the grocery store, and even driving on the roads.

I don’t know what the future holds and to be honest I’m a little nervous about it but for now I’m going to be moving back home to NYC to be with my family as I figure my life out.

Hasta luego! 👋🏾❤️

My favorite story of the week was up in Troy. For almost a year, we covered the battle over the Tavern building downtown. Now that the Troy Historic Preservation Alliance owns the building that’s been around since the 19th century, the group allowed us to take a tour inside. We got to see the old courtroom, what used to be a bar, and doors made in the 1800s. The organization has a couple months to make structural stabilization repairs to the building. By the way, its members are calling it the IOOF building/old Miami County courthouse.

Good afternoon Facebook, I hope everyone is staying warm. I need your help. I wanted to highlight any groups or organizations providing meals to people in need right now. Does anyone know any groups doing anything today in the Dayton area? Please let me know, thank you!

I made a friend today at work. My photographer and I followed DaSean Johnson around for a bit this afternoon to see what it's like being a mail carrier in this weather.

Facebook, I need your help. Does anyone know any truck drivers from the Dayton area? I'd like to interview one for my story tonight. There's going to be a wind advisory starting at 7 p.m. We could see 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph expected. I'd love to talk to a truck driver about how they deal with those conditions.

For my Mid-Ohio Valley followers, this is heartbreaking. This just doesn’t seem real.

A car crashed into a home on Troy Villa Blvd. in Huber Heights earlier today. A neighbor sent me a photo of the truck almost fully in the home. When we got on scene, we took photos of the gaping hole left behind. A neighbor told me he’s thinking of the family impacted by this crash. We’re working to see if anybody got hurt here.

This is my favorite story I've done this year! Thank you to Jim Russell for his service, Higher Ground Helicopters and Forever Young Veterans for helping make this happen, and my talented photographer Jared Hall for putting the story together.

Such an honor to tell this story! A veteran in Greene County wanted to relive his Army days by flying in a helicopter one more time. So his family and a couple organizations got together to make this happen, a week after his 86th birthday earlier this fall.

Hey Chad Johnson, a family in Shelby County, Ohio lost everything in a house fire this week. One of the items inside the home was a signed jersey of yours. Could you maybe send them a new one?

Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to hop on here and see if you guys can help me out. With Christmas in a couple days, I'd like to highlight people making a difference in the community this holiday season. Feel free to comment or message me any stories of people in the Miami Valley you think should be highlighted. Thank you!

Tonight we’re covering a crash in Trotwood. A Trotwood police officer went to Miami Valley Hospital after a driver hit the officer’s parked cruiser. The driver is suspected to be impaired and was arrested. No word yet on the extent of the officer’s injuries.

The community came out tonight wearing “Luke Strong” t-shirts. The Northmont High School sophomore had a heart attack last week at basketball practice. The district has sold 500 shirts and all the proceeds raised will go to Luke’s family. Luke is in the hospital, his family said he is awake and talking.

This couple has been through a lot. Yesterday, a fire destroyed their Covington home. They lost their cat in the blaze. This happened less than 2 months after a driver under the influence of drugs slammed into their home. In both instances, the couple and their young daughter were not hurt.

A major flu outbreak is forcing Fairborn High School to close tomorrow. More than 300 students were not in school today. That’s about 1/3 of the high school. The superintendent said some also tested positive for COVID.

It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the passing of Norman Lear, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Norman passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, surrounded by his family as we told stories and sang songs until the very end.

Norman lived a life in awe of the world around him. He marveled at his cup of coffee every morning, the shape of the tree outside his window, and the sounds of beautiful music. But it was people—those he just met and those he knew for decades—who kept his mind and heart forever young.

As we celebrate his legacy and reflect on the next chapter of life without him, we would like to thank everyone for all the love and support.

Tonight, I'm doing a story about 16-year-old Luke Mangen. The Northmont High School sophomore had a heart attack at basketball practice last week and is now at a Cincinnati hospital. JD's Old Fashioned Frozen Custard is raising money for Luke and his family as they deal with the aftermath of all this. Please share this story, if you can.
