Welcome to Plastic Free July!
Our Bermuda Ambassador Cirqle Circus Arts Collective is hard at work breaking down costumes recycled after Bermuda Carnival. These costumes include hazardous plastics that take 100s of years to degrade and pollute our marine systems.
If you have unwanted costume, don't throw them away. Contact Tara for costume recycling today!
🌟♻️ Raising up the next generation of recyclers! 🌈🔧
Last month, we had the privilege of hosting a costume deconstruction workshop at Spool(Spool Community). One of our Trinbagonian Ambassadors, Arlene (Trini Food Designer Arlene), taught over 20 women, the art of efficiently deconstructing bras/ backpacks, ensuring that their materials can be reused in the future. 🧵👙
Not only did she teach them how to recycle and deconstruct costumes, she also taught them the importance of this practice and the impact it will have on the environment and Carnival industry.
We're immensely grateful for the costumes you recycled for us this year and the ones Tribe Mas Band (TRIBE Carnival) recently recycled for us. With these recycled materials, budding designers and seamstresses will have the opportunity to practice their feather work and costume-making in future sessions! 🎭💃
Join us in making a difference through recycling! Together, we're transforming discarded items into valuable resources and empowering the next generation of creators. ♻️🌍🙌
Look at what your costumes can do!🌟♻ 🎉✨
Last year, Party People BDA (Party People Entertainment) recycled costumes, and the materials were transformed into a Crown/Tiara-making workshop for little girls. 👑💃 This year, we're continuing our efforts with the help of our Bermudian ambassador, Cirqle Circus (Cirqle Circus Arts Collective)!
If you're a person, hotel, or band with unwanted costumes, contact Cirqle to arrange a pickup for your discarded costumes. Together, we can divert costumes from the incinerator in and ensure local creators have access to materials.
📞 Contact Cirqle Cicus on Whatsapp at 441-705-2787 to schedule a pickup or if you need materials for your next project. Let's collaborate and create something amazing! 💪🎨

Join us now as we present a lightning talk on Creating a more Sustainable Carnival with
Happy Earth Day! It's important to remember the impact that our actions have on the environment. One area that often goes overlooked is costume waste. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 16.9 million tons of textile waste were generated in 2017, and only 2.6 million tons were recycled. Every year, millions of costumes end up in landfills, taking up space and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. However, by recycling your costume, you can help reduce waste and save resources.
You asked and we are delivering! For those of you still recovering from Carnival, no need to worry. You can still recycle your costume with Hello Green (Hello Green) in Port of Spain until March 1st, 2023!
Their operating hours are Monday-Friday between 9 AM - 3 PM.
Accepted Items:
Carnival Costume Pieces (Bras, Leg pieces, Arm Pieces, Backpacks)
Carnival Boxes
Old costumes sitting in your closet
Monday Wear
J'ouvert Wear.
Let's keep these materials out of landfills and back into the creative industry!
Hey Fam,
Carnicycle is hosting it's first collection since 2020 and is teaming up with BDA's very own Cirqle Circus (.circus) to bring you the best experience. Cirqle Circus Arts Collective was created as a means to cultivate community in Bermuda while building an entertainment model that could sustainably support the community's development. From costume production to performances such as fire dancing, aerial arts and mermaid enactments, Cirqle strives to encourage artistic expression in every form! 😍
Bermuda masqueraders- you will now have the option to have a fun and more sustainable mas by recycling your costumes with us on July 20th, at the end of last lap! Alternatively, you can call to arrange a pick up of your costume from your guest house or hotel. 💃🏾♻️
Wiring, beads, gems, bras and feathers will be salvaged and stored. All costumes will be utilized for Circle Circus productions, be available to local designers for building samples, sold locally to support Carnicycle in Bermuda or used in youth based community projects.
Please remember, you can "Fete, play mas, bubble and wine, and save the earth, same time! "
