Forest Hills Beacon School Could Close July 1 04/02/2012

Please join me alongside Assemblyman Hevesi, Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, and Assemblywoman Grace Meng tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3rd, at 5:30pm to protest against the unfair closure of the Queens Community House Beacon Program at Russel Sage JHS 190.
The city’s proposal to close this vital program simply because it falls under a “wealthier” zip code would be devastating for hundreds of families throughout the borough, including many working parents who rely on the free afterschool activities to keep their children busy while they are at their jobs.

In February, I visited Israel with Speaker Quinn and the Jewish Community Relations Council. The 10-day trip explored a diverse range of topics and site visits, including a tour and discussion with the president of Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), which will establish the new applied science and engineering campus on New York City’s Roosevelt Island! Being in Israel is always an incredibly moving and wonderful experience.
