Looking back, I realize I’ve met some of the most amazing people from Mexico City and Monterrey, and I’m so grateful that some still fly in for balayage love.

When you travel like I did, you see beauty on another level. The more I travel, the more I learn.

As I reflect on 2024, one of my most fulfilling accomplishments has been the two recent articles I reviewed with Dotdash Meredith for Byrdie this year.

Coming from an Albanian background with a highly intellectual family on my mother’s side, this achievement is especially important to me.

This milestone is a testament to my daughters, showing them to never give up.

I came to America 27 years ago without speaking English, and now holding a position to review articles for a top magazine is incredibly fulfilling.

Understanding where you came from helps you appreciate how far you’ve come. When your “why” is bigger than you, you can move mountains.

My mother said I remind her of her brother, Bajram Haskaj, a book publisher.

One day, I will finish the book I started, which will be unique for future girls, especially those from different backgrounds to pursue their dreams.

Good communication is crucial, and achieving it, especially as a bilingual person, takes work, but it’s possible.

Seeing how much my daughters love to read and write is like seeing myself as a child, telling my mother to close the door because I was writing.

I was in the most competitive class, and one of my uncles, Ram Haskaj, was the principal of my high school. I remember writing and reading on stage; the professor couldn’t find any mistakes besides one word, K versus G, which I’m still unsure of the proper spelling—whether it’s “Gurbeti” or “Kurbeti”—and I would be so confused.

P.S. To all in the beauty world: communication is one of the most important things you need to master as a professional. Just believe in yourself and take it one step at a time.
