Jeffrey Leder – Paintings – Opening Friday June 17 6-8pm
A year ago I took a hiatus from the gallery to sketch and paint, as well as complete a few other projects. During this time, I decided to move to Greenville, South Carolina in the summer of 2016. I also decided to have the gallery for one final year, since it generates such enjoyment for myself and others. It's been a great year of many successful exhibits, working with talented artists, collectors, etc.
For the gallery's last show, I will present the result of my own work for the past 2 years, which I am quite proud of and want to share with you. Join us at the opening on Friday, June 17 from 6-8 PM.

PAINT HEADS – Opening Reception this Friday April 1st from 6-8pm
The nine artists in PAINT HEADS share a fascination with the properties of paint. They approach each painting with an open mind and a willingness to engage in a dialogue with the work as it evolves, confronting how best to exploit the medium on a two dimensional surface. History of art and its movements inform their visual vocabulary; they are not battling, but building on the lessons of the past, and clearly having fun doing it.
Long commitment to the investigation of paint is amply rewarded in the exhibited works.
Featuring Andrea Belag, Katherine Bradford, Martha Diamond, Ian Hughes,Melissa Meyer, John L. Moore, Bobbie Oliver,

Small work allows the experience of getting up close and personal with the artwork. The size of the artwork forces one to go in and really look. “Smaller beckons: get close, touch, relate - they inspire a reduction of the psychic distance between one thing and another; between people and things” - from the book and philosophy: “Wabi Sabi”

Why Undiscovered Artists?
One definition for an emerging artist is someone who has not, as yet, been discovered - there has not been much buzz about their work. Plus, they are generally underrepresented in the gallery sphere.
Established artists are well esteemed. They are known brands and have a rather distinguished reputation in the art world. You read about them in newspapers, magazines, and books; they come with a sense of pre-established quality plus often an intriguing story that further connects you to their artwork.
I think it is important to remember that every established artist was undiscovered at one point - some earlier, some later in their careers.
Our gallery focuses on non-established artists for several reasons: to form a relationship with new talent, the opportunity to share our discovery with others, and to present fresh and affordable artwork to our visitors and collectors.
The artists we exhibit are found through open studios, have approached the gallery directly, or are recommended to us. The gallery also has juried shows, which allow us to know a vast array of artists, their work, who and how they are as people, and how our collectors/viewers respond to them. From the collector’s vantage point, it is an opportunity to discover and acquire works of art by artists who have not been fully appreciated by most of the art world. It’s often a good investment as the value of the art will most likely appreciate over time as you live with this wonderful artwork.
A lot of great artwork has not been discovered yet. My gallery’s objective is to provide a platform for these artists and their artwork to be seen, appreciated, and collected.
We are currently accepting submissions for our next juried show: Photographic Being II.
Please visit http://jeffreyledergallery.com/juried for further details and to apply. We look forward to seeing your great artwork!
