Mr. James has gone above and beyond for the school community since the 6th grade! Community service, leading in the programs he engages with, and is outstanding young man. He’s moldable, humble, and ambitious! We look forward to seeing continued growth in Mr. James !
Mr. James has spent his high school years being very active and vibrant in the Eagle community. For the past three years he has been a member of the Eagle Dynasty, which is a group of leading scholars who collaborate to improve the school’s culture and climate. The dynasty does this by leading meeting to discuss and execute student ideas and projects that allow students to become more active in the school community.

Senior highlight: Mr James
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Basketball Team
Other notable attributes: Mr.James has been a committed member of our school’s Basketball team and has served as a leader on and off the court. For Mr.James, Basketball is as essential to his day to day life as breathing. He has been passionate about basketball his entire life and has been involved in some meaningful games in middle and high school. He is deeply committed to his craft, having participated in boot camps and basketball lessons and on the New York City basketball circuit for most of his life. While he is certainly a talented young man, Mr.James has learned not to rest on his natural gifts. He has put in countless hours to improving his craft. I reflect on a time when I serendipitously stumbled on one of the high school games in the gym. He emerged on the court, as the starting Point Guard and led the team to a close victory! From the exertion and exhilaration – that display of full-blown self-expression was extraordinary to witness and is symbolic of what this young man is capable of.
Senior Highlights—Mr Amaro (‘20)
GPA: 86.96%
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Key Club, Creative Nest
Other notable attributes: "A model of consistency, maturity, and integrity both inside and outside the classroom for his peers and teachers alike, Mr. Amaro is a reliable young man who is always willing to put the needs of those around him before his own. Everyone in his community knows him to be dependable and trust him to fulfill any role he is placed, even with unintended ones. Isaiah’s love of film production, illustration, and books led him to be a part of the Comic Book Drawing Club as a Junior. One day, the advisor for the club fell ill and could not stay after school to run the club. Isaiah, on his own volition, threw himself into the de-facto advisor role, managing the day’s activities and supporting the younger students with their drawings. He took it upon himself to run the lesson, feeling compelled by the fact that the younger students looked forward to having that space to draw once a week. Since that day, many of the middle school students view Mr.Amaro as a mentor and role model they can look towards for support and advice. These selfless acts are an innate part of Mr.Amaro’s personality, as he never thinks twice about using his time and talents to help others.

Senior Highlights: Derrick Clark (‘20)
GPA: 80.44%
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Key Club, Harlem Dynasty, Eagle Harlem Inaugural Drumline, Scholar Ambassador
Other notable attributes: On a daily basis, Derick’s inquisitiveness shines through. He is never satisfied with the “simple answer” to a question, always looking for multiple perspectives and questioning whether what is true should be true. This approach to learning has greatly enriched the quality of discussion in my classroom and I have Derick to thank for that. Lastly, what makes Derick stand out is his is continuous resilience. As mentioned previously, rather than becoming discouraged challenges, he faces them head-on with razor-sharp focus.. Whatever Derick faces in the future, he will be able to persevere.”

Senior Spotlight: Shaun Santana (CO’20)
GPA: 83.37%
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Varsity Baseball, Gaming and Comic Book Club
Other notable attributes: In every class, I have had Shaun since the ninth grade. He has always demonstrated exemplary scholarly behavior. Shaun wasn’t always the highest score in the class (although never too far from it), but his actions on a daily basis led to optimal and consistent mastery of subject content. Shaun understands how to take control of his own learning and especially demonstrated in his Chemistry class. Shaun had clearly put his mind to mastering a difficult subject from the beginning, often coming up for lunch to work through extra problem sets. His drive and work ethic gives me confidence that there is no task that Shaun will give up at once his mind is set to do
It. He sets goals and attacks them into submission.

Senior Highlights: Mr. Paris (‘20)
GPA: 85.02%
SAT: 1040
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Eagle Harlem Dynasty, Aim High, Peer Mediator, Bottom Line, Basketball, Boxing, and Baseball.
Other notable attributes: When posed with the question, “What can you say about Mr.Paris?" the first word that comes to mind is consistent. Whether it is academically, his leadership qualities, his character, or how he interacts with peers, he has always been reliable and steady.
Mr. Paris is well-liked and respected by the students and the staff at Eagle Academy where he has been a scholar and part of Eagle family since sixth grade. Branden is an elder statesman in the building. He is a natural leader; whether he is on the athletic field, leading his team to a win in College Jeopardy, completing a community involvement project at the senior citizen center, or serving as a mentor to the younger brothers as a member of the Eagle Dynasty. He will truly be missed!!

Senior Highlight- Mr Blair (‘20)
GPA: 82.71
SAT: 1150 (560 M, 590 ELA)
Notable Extracurricular Experience: Seizing Every Opportunity (SEO), Boxing, Moot Court Mock Trial Team
Other notable attributes: Mr.Blair l has committed himself specifically to his education, social, and emotional development. He was hand-selected to become a member of Seizing Every Opportunity (SEO) for being highly motivated and for his innate ability to lead. Mr.Blair has leveraged this opportunity to realize his potential to drive change and create a powerful future for himself. We are particularly impressed with Mr.Blair’s commitment level and willingness to always go above and beyond by engaging in additional academic instruction, attending classes three Saturdays a month, once a week after school, and one month over the summer. He has internalized at an early age what he needs to do to succeed, and he pursues that passionately. His ability to sacrifice shows his advanced maturity, and he is very conscious of making wise decisions for himself, ones I am sure his family is extremely proud of.
