Instead of having a large portion of their cash stuck in a security deposit and making their landlords rich by paying off their mortgage, our renters build their wealth as the real estate market appreciates and as their rental home generates income. Renters have control over the income their rental generates by paying rent on time and keeping property expenses low. At the end of their lease renters can use the wealth they've accumulated to purchase the home or cash out.

This was before we launched a business - it was a fair deal amongst friends on the move upwards to a brighter, more rewarding future. Today, we feel that up&up captures our philosophy perfectly.

Our Story
Friends helping friends.
That's the spirit from which Up&Up was born.
Four years ago, my best friend Tony came to me for help. He was frustrated about how much he’d paid in rent over time--a monthly rent of $1,000 adds up to $60k after five years! As home prices went up, Tony’s rent payments got even more expensive. Although the area where he lived was becoming more desirable, he wasn’t benefiting from it. Worse--he wasn’t saving fast enough to keep up with the rise in home prices. As a result, he could never quite afford a down payment.
I offered to help. Together, we split the down payment, and I helped him buy his dream home in a beautiful residential neighborhood. To keep things simple, we structured this as a lease - Tony and his family lived in his home and rented from me. Each month, a chunk of his rent was invested into the home, and so with every rent check, he got closer to owning his home. Within three years, Tony was able to fully own his home. He finally fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a homeowner.
