The 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots is coming up, and Gale Publishing just created a blog post on the history of these events that you may find interesting. It also highlights one of the databases we subscribe to through them, Archives of Sexuality & Gender: LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940, Parts I and II. Current faculty and students can access this resource through the CUNY Law Library Electronic Resources page at http://libguides.law.cuny.edu/az.php. Browse alphabetically or chose the "Gender and Sexuality" subject filter for links to the Gale archives and other resources.
Please take a look at what the Archives of Sexuality & Gender collection has to offer, and keep it in mind whenever you need non-legal historical information on issues related to gender and sexuality. The blog post is linked below and is available to the general public.
SPOTLIGHT ON: STONEWALL UPRISING MARKS 50 YEARS
Through July 14, the New York Public Library is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal time in LGBTQ history, with a major exhibition, a series of programs, and more. A variety of content from the library’s Stonewall collection can be found in Gale’s Archives of Sexuality & Gender: LGBTQ History and Culture Since 1940, Parts I and II. In a new blog post, we explore the publications that played a key role in creating and defining “Gay Power” in the immediate wake of Stonewall and that helped the gay and le***an community take a more public stance on gay rights.

Lexis recently commissioned a survey of 300 law firm hiring partners and senior associates who supervise new attorneys, asking them whether new graduates and young lawyers possess the core skills needed by employers. Part of this survey assessed what skills the respondents felt were most important. Among the findings: young associates spend 40 - 60% of their time doing legal research; 86% or respondents believe legal research skills are highly important in young associates; 88% believe proficiency using paid research services is highly important.
