A bit about Mitch and his latin band, who are they?!

Saxophonist & Flautist, Mitch Frohman is known for his 25-year stint with the Tito Puente Orchestra as well as his membership with the Mongo Santamaria band. Frohman is the leader/co-leader of three of the most in-demand Latin & Latin-Jazz groups; The Bronx Horns, The Mambo Legends Orchestra (former Tito Puente All-Star musicians), and the Eddie Torres Mambo Kings Dance Show Orchestra. He has also played with greats; Celia Cruz, Machito, La Lupe, Cheo Feliciano, Eddie & Charlie Palmieri, Blood Sweat & Tears, Paul Simon, David Byrne, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Milly, Jocelyn & Los Vecinos and even Aventura! Of course his signature sound can be heard somewhere in the world everyday as he is the sax soloist on the theme of TV’s mega- hit “Sex & The City”.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and support. It is because of you that New York Dance Festival is growing every year from strength to strength. We love you!

As we’ve always said, NYDF is our passion project and we are continuously striving to improve, to give you the best possible dance competition in the best city in the world – New York City!

So it is in this spirit that we’re thrilled to announce a few exciting changes to the NYDF Program for 2024:

1. We’re adding a day!

Over the past few years NYDF has grown by leaps and bounds, so we will be adding an extra day to accommodate everyone and ensure the best possible atmosphere. The Camp will now be Sunday, Monday Tuesday ( Feb 18-20, 2024). President’s Day weekend is perfect for travel and will also give our school age participants a chance to attend at least two days without missing classes. The competition will commence on Wednesday February 21st.

2. The NYDF Gala is BACK!

By popular demand, we are bringing back the famous NYDF Gala, on Wednesday Night, February 21st. We will enjoy a Gourmet Dinner by New York Times 3 Star Chef Peter Betz. Mitch Frohman and his Latin Band will provide live music, and as always, there will be one or two surprises to entertain our guests.

3. Kids day is moving to the Main Ballroom!

We love our NYDF Kids and we will always strive to give them the best competitive experience possible . As in the prior years, the Championship Pre-Teen, Junior and Youth categories will be spread over the evening sessions. The Sunday Kids day will now move to the main Competition Ballroom (Trianon), so all our young participants will get to perform in the best possible environment in front of the full NYDF International Panel.
