Brass Monkey

We are pleased to announce that we will be broadcasting the Six Nations rugby games presented by NBC Universal beginning Saturday, February 5th, 2022. The schedule of the games is listed below for your convenience. There is NO COVER CHARGE this year.

Doors will be open by 15 minutes before the start of the first game each day. Seating is first come/first serve. All guests must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 as well as a government issued photo identification with matching information.

Games will be showing on our wall projector and multiple television screens with sound in all areas. In addition to the full bar, our kitchen will have select items available when doors open including our new Full Irish Breakfast Burrito and Fry Up Skillets for 2 or 4 people. And Guinness. Lots of Guinness.

Normally, this time of year we are hosting big holiday events for different groups celebrating the season. Sadly, today, we are forced to close again. The multiplying COVID-19 restrictions for bars and restaurants in New York combined with a debilitating economic crisis has proven too challenging a circumstance for our small business to sustain.

However, this is not goodbye; this is, "See you in the spring!"

We have high hopes for next spring and summer when people may be able to gather in large groups again and drink and be merry. It will require continued sacrifice for the greater good to get there, but with change on the horizon, we believe the country and this city will come back with renewed force after this short break.

We are tremendously grateful for all of your continued loyalty to Brass Monkey and we look forward to providing you even more good times very, very soon!

A lot of bars and restaurants have GoFundMe pages to provide some financial support for their employees who are now out of work and facing a long period of closure.

We wanted to provide you an option to help out our employees – the people you know and love – while also getting something for yourself. To that end, we set up a site where, in addition to accepting straight donations, we are selling vouchers for future use at Brass Monkey when we do reopen as well as other items such as a tile on the roof so you’ll always be a part of us.

100% of the revenue for the sale of items on this page will go to a fund which will support the staff of Brass Monkey: the bartenders, servers, cooks, dishwashers, bussers, runners, cleaners and managers. The people who have poured you an extra shot on the house, cooked you those perfect fries when you had one too many, cleaned up after you, remembered your birthday, and listened when you needed to vent about your day.

We realize we are all in a scary place of uncertainty right now and, for me, it helps to visualize the future that I want to see. To Our Brass Monkey Friends:

We’ve been following the news closely and as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread worldwide, it becomes clearer that – in the absence of a vaccine or cure – our safest precaution is to socially distance as much as possible. So, as much as we love to be the neighborhood place in the neighborhood, it is that very act of community that we must actively avoid to protect ourselves from contributing to the spread of this virus, at least for now.

We are closing our doors to the public starting today, Sunday, March 15 and will reopen as soon as we can. We did not come to this decision easily, but it is the socially responsible choice to make. The health and safety of our employees and customers is our top priority. We urge you all to also follow the guidance of the science and medical professionals who encourage us all to stay home and avoid gatherings as much as possible.

Please check in frequently to our social media and we will update you with when we will be open again. We hope it will be very, very soon.

The bad news is . . . .we know that climate change has presented us with unprecedented warm weather, but sadly, no, the roof terrace is not yet open to the public. We are renovating it and hope to have it open by late April/early May.

The good news is . . . we have lots of free hand sanitizer inside the bar.
