FRIDAY • Nowadays residents .bk and .nyc team up for a rare chance to catch all three DJs doing what they do best on the same night at Nowadays. They’re joined by Detroit’s , who, much like his peers also playing on this night, has a real gift for finding and playing all things disco, soul, jazz and house 🪩🪩🪩

SATURDAY • One for lovers of all things bass - .mantra is one of the minds behind Rupture, a long-running drum and bass label and party in London that highlights founding members of the genre alongside promising newcomers and scene staples. is a Brooklyn-based musician who has released on DBridge’s Exit Records. Tonight he’ll present an unmissable live and improvised performance using drum triggers and Ableton. is a very important party of the team at Nowadays, and one of the curators behind Headznite, a regular drum and bass party that doubles as a fundraiser for various causes 🌪️🌪️🌪️

SUNDAY • Soulful, uplifting, powerful, and loads of fun - it’s the iconic Fort Greene institution, in charge through the evening. Following them, host their annual get together for International Day To End Violence Against S*x Workers with a whole host of performers and on the decks 💫💫💫

FRIDAY • Two DJs that are the embodiment of eclecticism go head to head on the Allergy Season boss’ final residency night of the year. is an Australian-born, UK-based DJ and producer who incorporates a wide variety of influences, including psychedelic rock and pop music, into her euphoric DJ sets. Little introduction is needed for around these parts, and as always on his nights, it’s anyone’s guess where we’ll go sonically throughout the course of the night.

SATURDAY • For Aurora Halal’s final residency night of 2023, she’s joined by Nowadays regular and Merge resident Clarisa Kimskii. This night is the next chapter in a developing story between the two artists, who have shared bills previously. Both are veteran DJs with well over a decade’s worth of experience in the booth, and they both have strong ties to their shared hometown of Washington, D.C. Clarisa’s sound is rooted in the more hypnotic strains of techno while Aurora’s take draws heavily from the cosmic and pulsating realms of the genre. Both are united by the psychedelic thread running through what they do and neither of them are afraid to veer from what’s familiar and surprise the dance floor when the moment is right.

SUNDAY • To close out the weekend we welcome a lynchpin of the DJ community in New York, , to the booth for the first time alongside the rapidly rising . Expect sounds from across the entire spectrum with an emphasis of high quality house music to see you through until Sunday night.

She’s dynamic, unpredictable, and technically proficient, and we're very excited to welcome her as a new resident. Liv is joined by Detroit DJ Scott Zacharias, whose early morning No Way Back sessions are freewheeling and legendary. Expect the unexpected. Tonight, we host another edition of Headznite: a mid-week jungle & drum and bass party for charity. All proceeds from the night will benefit Ukraine via Spilka.NYC, a collective of Ukrainian-American art and cultural workers based in NYC.

X-Coast is back in town, making a pit stop from his world tour and no doubt very prepared for the occasion. Brenecki is known to the headz for his deep cuts and very smooth productions; he'll be representing the deeper and jazzier sides of the genre. Technocadaver (live) plays jungle 'from a metal perspective'; he uses 'two amigo 1200s, which are computers from the early 90s that use 8bit samples.' We've got a very special b2b from iconic couple Miley Serious & Lu2k, both known for their high energy yet seamless sets, we can't wait to see what they'll do dedicated to our favorite genre. To round things out, we've got our regulars returning to the booth, Rage.inald and Raw Unkut, both of whom are known to get the headz moving.

To support Ukraine’s resistance of the ongoing Russian invasion we will be gathering donations which will provide direct assistance to those in need: marginalized groups, families in bomb shelters, the elderly, those on the move, children’s hospitals and self-organized humanitarian groups. Today at 2pm we're opening our doors and inviting you in to watch the United States vs. Wales game, which kicks off our screening of the World Cup at Nowadays.

Over the next few weeks we'll be screening most of the World Cup matches on the big screen and through the soundsystem. The bar and kitchen will also be open to satisfy game day cravings.

Tonight, we host this month’s , with a very special guest, Justin Carter, resident DJ and mind behind Nowadays, for an intimate talk on How To Run An Intentional Nightlife Space.

Justin Carter is a DJ and musician with almost thirty years of experience in underground nightlife. In his early teens, Justin attended punk shows at makeshift venues in his small town, graduating to playing in bands in high school. Arriving in NYC in the late 90s, he started performing at and putting on shows and parties in the early Brooklyn DIY scene, starting to DJ in 2003. He soon became a resident DJ, booking person and the label manager at Nublu and the Music Director and a resident DJ at APT, two of the last bastions of underground dance music in the wake of 9/11 and the 90s culture wars and Giuliani crackdowns. Between 2009 and 2011, he and fellow DJ Eamon Harkin co-founded Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday, parties that happened mostly in friends’ loft spaces and back yards. In 2015, spurred by a need for more permanent space for their own parties as well as a desire to create space for the larger nightlife community, they opened Nowadays. Justin continues to DJ regularly at and co-run the operations of Nowadays to this day.

For this iteration of Community Skillshare, Justin will share practical and esoteric knowledge around intentional space making in nightlife, whether those spaces are one-off events, event series, DIY venues or “legal” venues. He’ll cover some basics around safety, finances, sound, licensing and communication, and he’ll stick around to answer questions at the end, followed by an open decks to close the night. The event is free and open to all ages. We’re open now for food and drinks, program starts at 8pm.

November Nonstop lands on Thanksgiving weekend with Nowadays residents DJ Python and DJ Voices, local favorites Baby Leo and Sin-Pit, and guests from afar D. Tiffany, Ehua and DJ Masada. You’ll want to catch this one if you’re in town. Tickets and set times are live at the link in bio.

Starting this evening, heated yurts will return to the back yard alongside additional cold weather offerings of fire pits and ramen from Diner by Izakaya. Indoors, we're now open Wednesday through Sunday for dining and drinks. Reservations for both spaces can be made via Resy.

Our weekly Wednesday night community program continues this evening with journalist David Turner as he celebrates the fifth anniversary of Penny Fractions, a newsletter that takes a critical lens towards the music business. Join him along with the podcasts Art & Labor, a show that covers the struggles of being an arts worker; and Money 4 Nothing, a show about music and capitalism, for a couple of live recordings with fun special guests. Feel to hang, meet other readers, and get a limited edition zine. We’re open now for food and drinks; program starts at 8pm.

This weekend commences the indoor season at Nowadays which means food and drinks will be served exclusively indoors, plus we’ll move inside on Sundays for a rotation of our resident parties Coloring Lessons, Honcho and Soul Summit. This Thursday, we’ll be hosting a fundraiser honoring the life and work of LaTravious Collins, the founder and executive director of the Brooklyn Ghost Project who passed away recently. The Brooklyn Ghost Project is a Black, transgender-led nonprofit organization providing awareness, support, empowerment, and visibility to members of transgender and non-binary communities of color who are either struggling with or have overcome gender identity-related issues, and the fundraiser is an effort to keep her legacy alive and continue her mission by providing crucial funds for the organization in the wake of her passing.

The fundraiser to honor LaTravious is happening indoors at Nowadays on Thursday evening with Jasmine Infiniti, DOLLNXTDOOR, Belindzz, Capital K’aos, Cisne, B. Hawk, Tia Carta, Aoki Lee & Bugz Gutta. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Ghost Project. The Club Management Podcast hosted by Shannon Dawson () explores how artists, DJs, and event organizers are cultivating change and community through music. The show also analyzes the cultural and historical elements that shift, impact, and develop our beloved music scenes. Join Shannon as she welcomes Nita Aviance, Rose Kourts and Doctor Jeep for a deep discussion on how the music industry has shifted post COVID-19. They will be sharing stories about their individual experiences in the music industry and how they have managed to stay true to their art form while weathering the systemic changes of the industry through the COVID economy.
