This is the team. If you’re looking for someone to talk to, this is the place. Next Step is run by people who get it— who know how hard it is to stop using, who know pain is part of the path, who know that recovery is in anyone’s reach. We know the heartbreak of overdose and the power of community. Thanks to all who gathered and shared today and to everyone still holding on to a loved one with love and compassion. 💜💔❤️‍🩹 .

On Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives of people who have died from overdose and come together to grieve. Each loss has ripples that impact all of our families and communities. Today we hold our memories as both tribute and promise -- to keep listening and to keep fighting. CHASI's Next Step is open 24/7 for help or support.

International Overdose Awareness Day ( ) serves as a stark reminder that every overdose death is a drug policy failure. As we mourn those we've lost, we'll continue pushing for evidence-backed harm reduction (aka health care) services and support — including Overdose Prevention Centers (OPCs) — for and with our communities.

Grief shows up differently for each of us, and we encourage you to be gentle with yourself today (and every day after that). For more support, see our Grieving Overdose Zine: bit.ly/GrievingOverdoseZine.

Maybe Staten Island hasn't had our best moment in the sun yet as a magnet for q***r life, but LGBTQ folks have been a part of the borough for generations! Here's a recent highlight: in the 1980s, a social group began to help give SI residents more social space and safety to be OUT as LGBTQ in public. Many of the people involved in LGBTQ life on Staten Island today were there as founders, supporters, advocates, and friends! SI Lambda Associates was honored in 2011 by the SI LGBTQ Community Center with the inaugural Staten Island Community Enrichment Award. If you ARE, WERE, or know a Lambda Associate, please allow us to give or share our gratitude. Your trailblazing may not have been easy, but it's been incredibly valuable for those who've come after. THANK YOU!!!

Social and civic groups in the 80s and 90s were not the only spaces that welcomed the LGBTQ community. Which was your favorite SI hangout spot?
