Astoria's Mighty Oak is the only wood fired coffee roaster in NYC.
With our new take on this traditional method combined with sustainable practices, we bring you a unique cup of coffee to enjoy in our cafe or at home.
If you’re looking for something refreshing, stop in for a cold pressed lemonade from our friends ! Crisp, tangy, and not too sweet, it also pairs perfectly with Matcha!
Have you tried Passeio yet? If you’re looking for a smooth and nutty, chocolatey coffee, this one is for you! Available online, in the cafe, and for a limited time at the cafe on French Press! Last year our Roastmaster visited the farm, and was immediately struck by the tranquil surroundings at Fazenda Passeio. Adolfo’s family has been growing coffee here for generations, and actively work to preserve the surrounding environment, from conserving large sections of forest for wildlife habitat throughout the farm, to converting entirely to solar power. His work in sustainability goes beyond the surrounding environment to his workers and the surrounding community, providing fair wages, resources, and education.
Five years ago we decided to build the shop we always wanted to have in the neighborhood, and what an incredible journey this has been so far! We are so thankful to our team, our customers, and our community who make The Oak so special. Your support over the years has kept us going through so many challenges, and we look forward to serving you for years to come!
Tomorrow, Sunday 5/19, our friends will be serving up some awesome food at the cafe, from 8a-sold out, please come by and celebrate with us!

High up in the mountains of Costa Rica is finca Alto el V***r. The Solis family has grown coffee here for decades, but in recent years Mayra’s children have been working with her to expand their capabilities, and together they established their own wet mill! Their focus on environmental conservation combined with high quality coffee is truly something special, and we’re thrilled to partner with them.
Right now we’re roasting their Patio Natural process nanolot, one of their innovations that involves open air shade fermentation before moving to a raised bed for drying. Look for notes of strawberry, watermelon, and honeycrisp apple in this amazing coffee!
Just in from Rwanda is an amazingly bright and juicy coffee, with amazing lemon and honeydew melon notes. Great choice for pour over!
The Cyesha washing station processes coffee from over 470 different smallholder farms in the Nyanasheke region, and we’re thrilled to be roasting their coffee.

This coffee comes from a new planting of Caturra trees at Finca La Tia, and is processed as a Red Honey microlot. After picking cherries are pulped, but most of the inner fruit is left intact as the seeds are dried on raised beds. As it dries it turns into a deep red honeylike consistency, and adds to the intense flavor of this coffee.
Look for notes of green apple and pear, with a bit of clove and nutmeg!
New Arrival from Colombia!
This anaerobic fermented coffee has intense cherry notes, with incredible body and complexity.

Cider season is here!
Just in time for these crisp fall days, hot cider is back on the menu! Two options to choose from this year - Classic cider made from a blend of NYS apples with just the right amount of cinnamon, or 100% Honeycrisp cider with ginger is extra tangy with just a bit of heat. Both feature cider from and spices from !
Turkish Chili Chocolate is Back!
The complex, spicy flavor in this drink comes from the sun cured chili pepper sourced from Turkey’s Urfa region paired with premium chocolate and steamed milk.
You can also add an espresso shot to make it a Mocha!
New arrival from Guatemala!
Pedro Villa toro’s family has been growing coffee in Hoja Blanca for decades, and their attention to detail shines through in the amazingly well balanced coffee. Look for notes of milk chocolate with orange and berry sweetness. Available now online and in the cafe!

This one comes to us from Josefina and Mario’s farm on a remote hillside in Nicaragua’s Jinotega region, Finca El Divino Niño. The location is so remote, coffee has to be carried out on horseback!
Look for sweet and crisp peach and white grape notes in this very well balanced coffee!
Have you tried Halo Hartume yet? Blueberry and peach notes with a delicate vanilla aroma - if you’ve heard people talk about Yirgacheffe coffee this is what they mean! The next coffee in our series highlighting small farms from the Cauca region of Colombia is from Cecilia Marín’s farm in El Tambo.
