The Asian Mentoring Committee expands Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC's volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts to NYC's greater Asian communities.
Founded in 2010, the Asian Mentoring Committee (AMC) is an affinity group of Asian and Pacific Islander volunteers who support Asian Littles in NYC and the New American Program (NAP). AMC recruits potential AAPI mentors, plans events and fundraises for NAP. NAP is Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYCโs specialized language-access program, helping children from immigrant families overcome the unique obs

To celebrate AAPI Heritage Month, the Asian Mentoring Committee and the New American Program of Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC hosted a Food Crawl through Manhattan's Chinatown. Matches explored local eateries curated by Mott Street Girls and sampled a variety of authentic cuisine. ๐ง๐๐ฅก๐ฏ

Ye Ye explained the ingredients and demonstrated every step. Bigs & Littles worked together to wrap all the dumplings & spring rolls. AMC volunteers cooked and served up the final product.

Last weekend, AMC partnered with , a Brooklyn based non-profit focused on empowering youth through music, to host a workshop at .
The workshop leader taught digital music making, song arrangement, basic music theory/structure, sampling, writing, and recording. High School Littles (aged 14-16) partnered with their Bigs to use a web-based app to create a track for their portfolio!

Citi Field also celebrated the 18th Annual Taiwan Heritage Day with a Spirit Award, Honorary First Pitch and National Anthem performance from cellist Kenneth Kuo.
