Every hero needs a place to rest after a day of battling villains (or just enjoying a day at sea.) A true hero's welcome is waiting for you onboard the Disney Destiny! 🦸‍♀️

Keeping with the ship’s unique theme, every stateroom and suite will showcase custom artwork depicting the epic journeys of famous Disney heroes and legends.

Lavishly appointed concierge staterooms and suites will draw you into the mysterious and fantastic world of Disney Animation’s “Fantasia” through elegant, watercolor-style artwork illustrating the rich color palette and otherworldly spectacle of the classic film.

Seven special oceanview concierge staterooms will be themed with the distinctive iconography of Pixar’s “The Incredibles," providing hero-worthy, awe-inspiring, floor-to-ceiling views. The four royal suites will celebrate the majestic powers and noble heroism at the heart of Disney Animation’s “Hercules” with Greco-Roman-inspired design elements, colors and patterns, and the boldly themed IncrediSuites will invoke the exhilarating exploits of “The Incredibles” through a streamlined mid-century modern aesthetic inspired by the Pixar films.

Which theme are you most excited for?

Ready to take your next vacation from zero to hero? 🏛️

Your favorite Greek demigod will take center stage onboard the Disney Destiny in an all-new, Broadway-style show, “Disney Hercules"

This lively retelling of the popular Walt Disney Animation Studios film will feature the iconic music and larger-than-life characters we all know and love from the original movie, presented in an all-new way. The Muses will play the pivotal role of the show’s storytellers, guiding the audience through a mythical tale of good versus evil, set to the iconic soundtrack’s pop and gospel influences.

But that's not the only broadway style entertainment Disney Destiny has onboard for you and your family! "Disney Hercules" will be one of three stage shows... yes, THREE shows are coming to the Disney Destiny. "Frozen, A Musical Spectacular" and "Disney Seas the Adventure", which features Disney and Pixar characters and signature Disney songs will join the lineup for a full set of favorites to add to your must do list.

08/31/2024

✨Disney Destiny's Imaginative Dining Experiences await you and your family!✨

An all new dining experience, Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, will feature live musicians and storytellers using authentic African instruments and theatrical props to represent the story and characters from the beloved film, "The Lion King."

Two additional included rotational dining options return to Disney Destiny. We are all excited about the return of Worlds of Marvel! Superhero fans are excited by the action and surprises around each turn, while you enjoy an out-of-this-world meal. But my personal favorite is dining in style at 1923. Named for the founding year of The Walt Disney Company, 1923 will celebrate the legacy of Disney animation with more than 1,000 drawings and props showcasing tales of heroes and villains in “Hercules,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Big Hero 6,” and “Wreck-It Ralph.”

Which dining experience on the Disney Destiny are you most looking forward to?

🎄Merry Christmas from my family to yours! 🎄

Each year my family and I like to celebrate the holiday season checking out the Christmas festivities at Walt Disney World. Last night we started a new family tradition of going to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for a Christmas sleigh ride! The horses at the barn are the same horses you see in the parade and pulling the trollies on Main Street. After visiting the horses, we were off on our sleigh ride through the campgrounds! Each RV had decorated their space with Christmas lights and inflatables. It’s something we’ll come back for year after year!

What Christmas tradition are you celebrating today?

The Emerald Princess is in Boston today and it’s almost Halloween! What better place to celebrate spooky season than a quick day trip to Salem, MA?

Salem celebrates Halloween year round, but it’s never more alive than during the fall season. See if you can recognize some of the filming locations from my favorite Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus:

🧙‍♀️The Old Town Hall in Derby Square - Famous for Bette Midler’s rendition of “Put a Spell on You,” during the town Halloween party.

🎃 Allison’s House - Remember when Max attends the Halloween party at Allison’s house? The exterior was actually filmed using the Rope’s Mansion, one of the most prominent 18th-century homes in Salem.

🐈‍⬛ Max And Dani’s House - A 20 minute walk outside of the city center will lead you to the residential area of Max and Dani’s house. This beautiful period home is a private house, but the owners are gracious about people taking photos from the street.

I also managed to squeeze in a quick visit to the Witch House, one of the few structures you can visit in Salem with direct ties to the Salem Witch Trials, and the Bewitched statue before heading back to the ship!

Have you been to Salem before? If not, what’s your favorite place to travel during the Halloween season?

Setting sail today on the Emerald Princess for a New England/Canadian cruise over Halloween! This week I’ll be visiting some charming seaside towns, a national park and the spooky city of Salem, MA. It wouldn’t be a Pixar cruise without… CHARACTERS! One of the things I was most looking forward to on this cruise were all the different character meet and greets - and Disney did not disappoint! From the Incredibles as new face characters to new backdrops for Toy Story friends and Remy to seeing Joy and Sadness meeting together, I was so excited about every experience.

Which Pixar character would you be most excited to see?

01/11/2023

My favorite shade of winter blues. 😍

01/09/2023

It’s the very FIRST Pixar Day at Sea, and I’ve been running around from speaker session to character meet and greets (more on this later) to cooking presentations to drawing activities and the day is only half over!

The absolute highlight of my day so far has been a speaker series by Bob Peterson, voice of some of my favorite Pixar film characters, Roz, Mr. Ray and Dug. I loved hearing his stories of working on Up and Finding Nemo. It was truly a unique experience you can only find on these special themed sailings.

Check out a first look at the Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends on board the inaugural Pixar cruise on the Disney Fantasy! 🤩 Start your day with Mickey waffles while Woody and pals sing, dance and have a rootin’-tootin’ good time.

While this is more like breakfast with several short shows than a standard character breakfast (no meet and greets), there will be plenty of time for photos with your favorite Pixar characters during the Pixar Day at Sea!

It’s Christmas Eve, and that can only mean one thing… Santa’s on his way!

Anyone who’s been on a Disney Cruise can tell you - sea days are the best days!

What’s a sea day like on an Alaskan itinerary? For me, it’s characters and scenic views! For special itineraries, Disney characters will often have themed outfits. This was definitely the case for Alaska! Here’s a few of my favorite shots while enjoying our last day on board.

08/01/2022

Ketchikan is one of my favorite stops on an Alaskan cruise. Unlike other ports, you literally dock right in the center of town. It’s perfect for exploring and is completely walkable - full of brightly painted wooden houses on Creek Street, stores with locally made souvenirs, totem poles (including a totem pole park) and of course, salmon. It’s the salmon that brought the first settlers to the area, and salmon also attracts something else - bears!

As salmon begin their journey upstream in rivers and creeks, bears can be seen looking for their next meal. So we headed to Margaret Bay, an hour north by private boat, into the Tongass National Forest. After docking, we hiked along trails where we were the only people in sight until we got to an elevated area with a river below. And then we waited. The end of July is the very beginning of salmon season, so bear sightings are more scarce. I heard some rustling of brush below and then I saw a bear start to make her way into the river, with two cubs waiting for her on the banks. We watched her search for fish in the white rapids before starting back into the forest with her cubs trailing behind her. Our guide said the cubs looked to be about 6 months old. Definitely a moment I’ll remember forever!

Our next port of Juneau was magical from start to end!

Juneau is one of the best places for whale watching, and with that in mind, we chartered a small boat hoping to see humpback whales! Humpbacks come to Alaska in the summer mainly to eat, migrating from warm, tropical Hawaiian breeding waters and arriving in Alaska to consume roughly a ton of food each day. This helps them to build the blubber reserves they need for the rest of the year, when they return to Hawaii to give birth. Our boat captain said breaching activity was rare, but luck was on our side and we were surprised to find a playful mom and calf breaching the water in front of us.

Whale tails have unique designs on their underside that almost act like fingerprints. By snapping a photo of the whale’s tail, our boat captain was able to identify it as one that returns to Juneau every summer - a roughly 45 foot female named Flame. The calf swimming with her had been appropriately named Ember. Learning more about these whales made capturing these moments even more special. With good weather on our side, we capped off our day on the way back to port to take in a rare view of the Mendenhall Glacier.

Welcome to Skagway!

Our excursion was cancelled last minute, so we decided to spend the day shopping in town. Largely unchanged in appearance since 1897, Skagway is full of historic architecture and interesting stories of gold rush times. It’s a great place to walk around and imagine what life was like during the days of the gold rush.

My favorite building in Skagway is the Arctic Brotherhood Hall, a club formed by a group of gold prospectors who arrived in Skagway to set off for the Klondike seeking fortune. Built in 1899, the facade is covered by nearly 9,000 pieces of driftwood sticks gathered by lodge members from the shores of Skagway Bay. It makes for a memorable photo that will always remind you of the history of this town!

There are two things I love most about cruising to Alaska - scenery and wildlife - and our first visit to Tracy Arm did not disappoint!

Soon after the ship entered the fjord, we boarded a small boat glacier explorer excursion to get a closer view of both the north and south Sawyer glaciers. On our way, we got close to the huge walls of rock carved by centuries of ice and waterfalls from melting glacier cascading down the sides. Fog from the morning rain made the whole experience feel otherworldly. These glaciers were so much more impressive than the Dawes glacier we saw in 2016!

As a surprise, we were able to spot a humpback whale lazily swimming near our boat. This was my first time seeing a humpback whale, and I was thrilled to get a shot of its tail during a deep dive. Little did I know this would be just one of the amazing whale encounters to come!

We’re back from Alaska!

Cruising in July was a completely different experience than our first cruise to Alaska in May 2016. While the weather was definitely wetter at times, we saw so much more wildlife - the absolute highlight of this itinerary for me! There’s too much to share in just one post, so I’m dedicating several over the next few days to share our experience. And to kick that off, here’s a video shot from the ship of harbor seals on glacier ice during our visit to the Sawyer Glacier in the Tracy Arm fjord.
