Our Story
Established in 2016, FEARnyc is New York City’s biggest horror film festival. Run by a team of film and live event professionals who’ve previously worked for the Tribeca Film Festival, Slamdance, A24, and Sony Pictures, we’ve screened hundreds of films from dozens of countries for thousands of fans, industry members, and the media.
Our juries are comprised of some of the top names working in horror including Robert Eggers (writer/director, The Witch), Jeffrey Reddick (creator of the Final Destination franchise), Kate Siegel (writer/actress, The Haunting of Hill House, Hush), Peter Phok (producer, Stake Land, House of the Devil), Dee Wallace (actress, The Howling, Cujo, E.T.) as well as leading journalists and horror film producers, designers, composers, and more.
We have received extensive media coverage in the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, NBC News, Time Out New York, Bloody Disgusting, Dread Central, Fangoria, Crain’s Business, and other outlets.
FEARnyc prides itself on not merely screening the best new horror films but also creating a professional, welcoming environment for our filmmakers, garnering them media interviews, helping them secure distribution, and making sure they have a great time watching their films on the big screen in the Center of the Universe — New York City.
