We had a blast with last week! We enjoyed flute music with CiM pro Yael Acher, and 112 older adults joined in — dancing along and playing egg shakers. Thanks for having us, YM & YWHA of Washington Heights of Inwood!
Concerts in Motion’s programs foster meaningful intergenerational connection by uniting community members of all ages through shared creativity and conversation. Whether as performers or as audience members, older adults and youth enjoy music together in a supportive and collaborative space.

On January 31st, we presented our first “Our Town” concert, at JASA Roy Reuther Older Adult Center in Queens!
In 2023, Concerts in Motion was awarded its first federal grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to organize intergenerational concerts for whole communities. This is the first Our Town concert of many!

We celebrated Veterans Day with JASA Senior Alliance OAC! Thanks for having us for an afternoon of enjoying music, and conversing in Russian and English.
Our youth program is back in full swing. Enjoy concerts performed by students passionate about sharing music and making connections every Monday and Wednesday at 5pm, and Friday at 4pm!

CiM was invited to join Hamilton Madison House at their Get Out the Vote Event! The community enjoyed music while accessing resources around registering to vote, civic engagement, and more.
We are proud to share that Concerts in Motion is one of just three organizations to be honored by the 2023 Maude’s Awards! Maude's Awards was created to reward innovations that enrich the quality of life for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias as well as their care partners.
CiM was awarded in the Making Connections category, named for connecting people with dementia to the world and people around them, in celebration of our concert programs designed to be accessible and welcoming to individuals with dementia or cognitive decline and their loved ones and care partners.

Youth concerts are back! We're so excited to welcome this year's cohort of youth musicians, outreach ambassadors, and open mic facilitators for another year of music and outreach.
Our first federal grant! Concerts in Motion has been awarded a $50,000 Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The award will support our project relieving social isolation, fostering intergenerational contact, and increasing access to live music by bringing professional and student performers directly to older adults served by NORCs and OACs.
This is one of 57 grants nationwide supporting projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into local efforts to strengthen and authentically engage communities, center equity, advance artful lives, and lay the groundwork for long-term systems change.

Concerts in Motion was named a Finalist in the Arts & Culture category in The 3rd Annual NYC Imagine Awards! The NYC Imagine Awards was created to offer formal acknowledgment to some of NYC metro’s most effective and innovative nonprofit organizations. The 3rd Annual NYC Imagine Awards nonprofit competition will take place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Guastavino’s, 409 E. 59th St., NY, NY.
With nearly 250 applications submitted for consideration in 6 categories, including Innovation, Leadership Excellence, Rising Star, Social Impact, Arts & Culture and DEIA, CiM is one of four finalists in the Arts & Culture category. The winners receive $5,000 and will be announced LIVE at the event. A special thanks to Webster Bank who will be providing each finalist with $1,000!
