Yesterday, we got a call from Lindsey because the hair washing sinks in her salon were no longer draining hair. We got one of our expert plumbers out there within about an hour of the call! He began by removing an expandable flexible drain connect pipe from one hair washing sink that was broken. Then he installed a new one. He repaired the existing sink strainer because it was loose and leaking. He did this twice more as there were 3 sinks in her salon. Finally, he tested to see if all sinks functioned correctly! We got a call from Daniel wanting to have a paint job done on his master bathroom. Our team started this project the same day he called! First, we took down any removable fixtures such as the towel rack, mirrors, light covers, and outlet covers. Then we cleaned the walls to ensure an easy application. After, we masked the entire bathroom using painter's tape to protect the edges, trim, and fixtures. We allowed the primer to dry completely and then painted thin even coats on the walls. Once we finished, we removed the tape and reinstalled all fixtures. The last step was cleaning any paint spills or drips! This was an easy job done in just a few hours! Here is a story time on one of our bigger projects we just finished:
We got a call from Joey last weekend regarding sewage issues. On Monday our team finished replacing the broken sewage pump that had been causing backup into the home. We disconnected all the piping and electrical connections and pulled out one vertical sump pump from the pit. Then we installed one temporary sump pump into the pit until we came back to install the rebuilt one. We then brought the pump to our shop to be rebuilt with new parts. After, we power washed it, vacuumed out the pit, and discarded any debris. We returned and installed the newly rebuilt vertical sump pump into the already cleaned pit. Finally, we turned the system on to preform tests and verify its functionality. Joey was thankful that we came to the rescue! Sunday Storytime:
Jess called us on Thursday regarding issues with her lavatory sink. While investigating this we immediately saw that the waste connections under the sink were rotten and leaking. We decided to remove the existing 1 ½” galvanized ni**le, P trap, and all waste connect pipes. As a preventative step, we snaked out the sink’s waste drain. Then we installed a new 1 ½” brass trap, galvanized ni**le, and waste connecting pipes to the existing lavatory waste line. This job only took us a day and we were out of there with a happy client!

On Tuesday, our technicians repaired underground pipes. This was due to sewage water backing up from the basement concrete floor. To repair these pipes, they started by running a sewage camera onto the concrete floor which determined that there was an underground kitchen line that collapsed and was leaking everywhere. To fix this, they began chipping the concrete and dug around the wet area. They tested it and could pinpoint which kitchen stack was broken underground. After, they removed the underground waste piping and ran new 5” cast iron pipes from the kitchen waste stack to the main underground pick-up pipe. Lucas called us on Friday wanting to install mini split systems throughout his house. On Saturday, our team got to work and installed two mini split systems in the first-floor bedrooms, and one in the upstairs master bedroom. Mini split systems are efficient as they allow you to cool or heat bedrooms depending on your needs. They provide central control based on where you are in your home. One of the worst plumbing issues to deal with during any season is when you don’t have hot water. Ben contacted us because he needed a new water heater due to his existing heater being old in age. One of our plumbers serviced this heater the next day. He installed a new AO Smith 75-gallon hot water heater. He roughed in a new water feed and supplied piping, fittings, and valves. After, he ran the new exhaust pipes into the existing chimney. Our technician was done with this project within two days and Ben was pleased to have hot water again!

Andrew called us a few days ago regarding issues his toilet was experiencing. He told us that there was a blockage that needed more attention than just the regular plunger. One of our knowledgeable technicians headed there on the same day. Once there, he ran a snake through the toilet several times with no avail. There was an object that was obstructing the path that would not move. He decided to remove the toilet to unclog it from underneath. He was able to successfully remove this object and he re-installed the toilet and caulked around the base. Our team hopes that you have had a relaxing weekend! Here is information about a job we recently completed. Yesterday our team registered and installed a new ¾” water meter to a house. To do this, we started by getting a Brake Seal Permit with NYC DEP. Then we roughed in a 3/4” tagged water meter with a new inlet and outlet. We also did this by including the T-test, drip valve setting, ground isolation clamps, and piping to support it. Then, we tapped into new piping connections to the existing domestic water supply. Finally, we installed and wired one new exterior remote receptacle (a remote water meter reader). We completed this job in one day and our client was happy with the service! The Lopez way is the best method to take care of all plumbing issues!

He called us concerned because his guest bathroom was not ready for his family that planned to come next weekend. But we came to the rescue and got the job done in no time! Once we were on site, we installed one new wall hung toilet on a rough in and two lavatory sink supply valves on the existing rough in. Also, we installed one new undermount lavatory sink and faucets on a new rough in. As well as a shower diverter with finishing trims. He was pleased that we kept the service effective and efficient! On Monday, Paul called our team concerned about broken pipes in his apartment building. HVAC piping repairs is a common job that we take care of, and our team was able to service this issue the same day. After inspecting the area, we diagnosed that there was a gas leak on the existing line set, running from the side of the building. The pressure was at 16 psi while it’s supposed to be at 130 psi. We started off vacuuming out all the residual refrigerants. Then we removed the existing gas lines and ran a new line from the 1st floor to the rooftop, insulating all pipes. After, we installed covers against the wall. Pressure testing the system was one of the most important steps in completing this job. Once this was done, we recharged the system with new refrigerant. Then, we used a chemical power wash evaporator on the 1st floor and a condenser on the roof top. We replaced the air filters and finally performed tests to verify the systems functionality. Yesterday, our team received a phone call from one of our loyal clients, Lisa, regarding a dropped ceiling repair. We got there within the same hour and inspected this issue. We installed a new metal frame as support for the new drop ceiling. We installed sheetrock planks throughout the entire new ceiling frame. After, we taped, spackled, sanded, and prepped the ceiling for panting. We coated the new ceiling with paint primer and double coated the ceiling with paint. Once that was finished, we cleaned up the garbage that was left over. Lopez Plumbing and Heating Mechanical is always available when you need us!

David contacted us yesterday about toilet issues in his apartment. After coming home from work, he noticed that it was leaking water. One of our helpful technicians arrived as soon as possible. First, he removed the existing toilet from the upstairs apartment due to a leak affecting the lower-level apartment. After, he replaced the gasket to address this leak and reinstalled the toilet, ensuring proper resealing and caulking around the base to prevent future leaks. Our plumbers replaced water riser valves and made a few updates on an apartment building last week. Due to a malfunction of the existing riser valves in the basement, they replaced it. On Thursday, Rob called us because there was a list of repairs that had to be completed in his apartment building. Our plumbers started working in the basement. There, they snaked out the tub and lavatory sink. They repaired the tub’s stopper. Furthermore, they removed ½-inch copper pipes and replaced them with new boiler condensation lines. Also, they vacuumed out the boiler’s exhaust intake.
On the first floor, they installed new waste pipes under the kitchen sink and replaced the kitchen sink food grinder. Moving on to the second floor, they changed the shower head, snaked out both the tub and the double lavatory sink, and repaired the tub’s stopper. In all the bedrooms, we removed and discarded the existing vertical 2-inch heating pipes and the sectional cast iron radiators. There were 12 rooms per floor. Our team recieved a call regarding both a water meter and water main leak. To fix the water meter leak, our technician brought a break seal permit to make leak repairs to one existing water meter. He then performed the necessary repairs to stop the leaks. He installed new non-existent ground isolation clamps with wire and pipe supports. To fix the water main leak, he removed the leaking pipes and fittings. He then connected a new valve onto the existing domestic water supply that goes to the house. Our plumber got the job done and the client was happy!

David called us last night concerned about issues with his hot water heater. We were able to send one of our technicians that next morning. After testing the heater, he decided that it needed to be replaced due to its old age and other issues that were found. First, he discarded the existing broken electric hot water heater. Then, he installed a new AO Smith Dura Power 20-gallon commercial electric water heater. He removed the existing hot water supply piping inside the walls under the sink to offset onto the new heater. In addition, he installed the new shut off and supply valves. David was happy with our technician's expertise! The Lopez way is the best way!

We received an emergency call in Manhattan from USPS. Their building was flooded, and our team headed straight there to make a diagnosis. Upon our arrival we inspected the affected area. The first thing we noticed was that water dripped from the ceiling and we noticed a 3” waste stack that looked like kitchen drainpipes. The contact person on site informed us that an individual from the building had already closed some valve(s) and that the running water into their area had ceased. We concluded that the dripping water was residual accumulations.

Last Friday, one of our expert plumbers got to fix issues in a hair salon located in Manhattan. In the basement he disconnected drain lines from three hair wash stations and ran a snake in and out to clear the stoppage. Then he cleared the hair trap. Ben called us concerned about his exhaust pipes yesterday and we were able to get a technician out there in no time. Due to its existing age, our plumber thought it was best to replace all the 8” and 6” flue pipes. He disconnected and removed all horizontally flue pipes picking up 2 pcs of water heaters and 2 pcs of boilers. He then went on to install new 8” and 6” flue pipes, fittings, and supports. He extended all pipes from the heating equipment. Our plumber knew exactly how to handle this problem and got the job done that same day!

We got a call from Edward a few days ago about his hose valve. Our technician evaluated his garden hose valve shortly after. He drilled a hole through the building support structure wall in the basement. Then he dug soil in the back to run a new water line and installed one new frost proof hose bib. Afterwards, he installed one new shut off and drain c**k valves inside to drain the line during winter to prevent it from freezing. Additionally, he poured concrete on the hole outside to make the hose bib steady and just like that, problem solved! We received a call on Tuesday from Joey due to issues with his water heater. His water heater stopped functioning after 15 years. We sent one of our expert plumbers to complete the job. He disconnected and removed the existing indirect hot water tank. After, he installed one 40-gallon hot water heater. Yesterday, a few of our guys were assigned a job to clean the sewer lines for an apartment in Manhattan. After running the sewer snake and attempting to clear the blockage, there was still hard sludge attached to the walls of the pipes. Due to this issue, we ran a wall to wall drain cleaning snake (to loosen the sludge) and a sewer line hydro jetting machine (to remove the street sewage.) We alternated back and forth between both methods. After, we were able to clean the sewer much easier. We got this job done in a few hours and the client was happy, which is all we want to hear!

Our team received a phone call about repairing sprinklers last Friday. They drained and refilled the entire system. They removed one flow switch and one powered bell (gong). They installed and wired both brand new pieces. After, they troubleshooted the electricity to all safety devices, performing tests. One of our long-time clients called about issues with his water line. Our plumber went to diagnose this problem and found that the hot water shut off valve was broken.
