It’s time for Solidarity Sunday! 💐9/7-9/8

We launched Solidarity Sunday to support nonprofits and mutual aid groups here in New York City!

Our mission is to channel our communities energy towards building a future that is inclusive and equitable for everyone.

Each member of our team selects an organization they admire, and we donate 💯of the proceeds each month!

How can you get involved? Purchase flowers! 🫶Flower proceeds from each sale on September 7th and 8th will be donated to whose mission it to restore justice youth arts combatting the school-to-prison pipeline by training and empowering youth with restorative justice community activities, socially conscious artists and more to transform their communities.

We offer 15 bouquets with a suggested donation of $40. Our goal is to raise $500 per event. Bouquets can be picked up 9/7 - 9/8.

Meet some of the newest faces at Stems Brooklyn! We’re a close-knit team here at Stems and we love working together!

My name is Liz, and as the new Marketing Coordinator at Stems, I’ve been helping Suzanna run this Instagram and getting to know all of you. It’s been amazing to learn about what matters most to our local community. Whatever you’d like to learn from Stems, I’m all ears!

What is Solidarity Sunday you ask? Launched back in 2020 we created a community event that supports nonprofits and mutual aid groups here in New York City.

Times may be challenging, but our mission is to channel our community’s energy towards building a future that is inclusive and equitable for everyone.

Each member of our team selects an organization they admire, one they believe is actively contributing to a better world. We donate💯of the proceeds each month.

How can you get involved? Easy - purchase flowers! That’s right, all proceeds from your flower orders on July 13th and July 14th will be donated to whose mission is to support New Yorkers and people traveling to New York State to access abortion care through financial assistance, case management, and connections to other resources.

How it works? We offer 15 bouquets with a suggested donation of $40. Our goal is to donate at least $500 per event. Bouquets can be picked up July 13th - July 14th while supplies last.

What’s my favorite flower? I love when people ask me this question because my answer is always “an in-season flower.” In-season, local flowers are always going to make a statement.

Over 80% of cut flowers in the United States are imported each year. So what’s the problem with that? While we do love imported flowers, they have a higher carbon footprint compared to local flowers. This is due to the use of refrigerated trucks, planes, and additional trucks on both ends of the journey, all consuming fuel and electricity. The carbon emissions from transportation negatively impact our environment, contributing to global warming.

When we buy local flowers at Stems, we support much shorter commutes (and no airplanes!) for the blooms, resulting in fewer negative effects on our environment. We prioritize supporting local farms, from right here in New York City to as far as Massachusetts. This bucket I’m holding contains only local flowers sourced for the Jersey Cut Flower Market.

You can be part of the solution!
- Ask your florist if they have in-season and local flowers.
- Trust your florist to create an American-grown designer bouquet.
- Designer choice bouquets are a great way to get local blooms in our shop! 😉

4th of July Holiday Hours from Stems Brooklyn! 🌼

Just a heads-up! We’ll be closed for the upcoming holiday to spend time with our friends and family.

Be sure to place your flower orders early in the week for delivery or pickup at our Brooklyn flower shop before the holiday. We can’t wait to bring you lots of beautiful locally grown blooms upon our return!

We are closed today, Wednesday, June 19th, to honor and celebrate black excellence with our friends and family! Happy Black American Independence Day!

Support who for over 5 years have created public floral installations that celebrate Black stories and inspire human flourishing. Jean Baptiste Dusable’s bust with 25 roses, 12 carnations, ferns, and palm fronds, to using over 1,000 stems on a classic Cadillac, their mission remains unwavering. Starting Friday, June 21 at 2PM, you can view the installation outside the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen, Chicago.

We’ve already donated to this amazing cause, and now it’s your turn.
