After 8 hours a day, 6 days a week and a whole month, 《Island Life》(島嶼生活) is also ready to reveal itself to the public.
駐紐約辦事處一樓大廳委託藝術作品《島嶼生活》接近完工,即將揭幕,敬請期待!
《Island Life》is a site-specific and large scale of paining installation. Its height from floor to ceiling is more than 26 feet and the width is 39 feet. To paint this enormous canvas, we set up a three-tier scaffold to do the job. It is time to dismantle the scaffold and to reveal its true beauty.
Stay tuned!

Look around! Taipei Cultural Center is very pleased to announce a site-specific, spatial painting “Island Life” is taking shape. When you enter the lobby of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office building in New York located at the 42nd street and 5th Avenue. You will be surprised by the scale of a painting. It is designed to surround you by the image and invite you to rethink the space. The entire painting process is open to visitors, who are able to watch floral motifs become more intricate and colorful during the month of September. The design behind the painting is the artists Michael Lin, who is been commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan. Lin has won acclaim for his unconventional paintings with patterned motifs taken from Taiwanese textiles. He is a leading Taiwanese contemporary painter and conceptual artist whose work has been exhibited internationally in major institutions and international Biennials around the world.

Have you seen the 4 short films under the title, To Good Old Friends?
Did you notice the 30th Anniversary Logo?
The LOGO is inspired by the core values of our mission. The lines surrounding each letter and number, and the floating white paths created by this effect, symbolize the flow of Connections and Cultural exchanges. Moreover, the blossoming of the morning glory flower in the letter 'C' is dedicated to all those who have contributed to the TCC's past and present, and to those who will be contributing to our future as well. Hope you like it.

Listen to Bunun (Trailer)
🎵🎥2021 Taiwan Bunun Indigenous Music & Film Festival Comes to Michigan October 13-27🎥🎵
The festival will kick off with a 60-minute online musical titled Listen to Bunun (聆聽布農), performed by the National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan and Bunun tribal members. Through a Bunun elder’s recollection, Listen to Bunun tells the history of the Bunun people, including generations of joys and sorrows, ethnic disputes, and emotional entanglements among the Bununs and their neighboring tribes, as well as the arrival of Han Chinese people since the 17th century and the Japanese colonization of Taiwan for 50 years.
📖The Bunun tribe is the fourth largest of Taiwan's indigenous groups. Like other indigenous groups around the world, the Bunun's music plays an essential role in their daily lives.

Praised as an “extravagantly talented visual stylist,” cinematic titan King Hu revolutionized the wuxia/swordplay film, introducing a refined sense of aesthetics, attention to mise-en-scène, and sense of mysticism to the genre that was borne out of his lifelong love for Peking opera. With its unique blend of thrilling action and dazzling stylistic expressiveness, Hu’s style influenced decades of subsequent Asian cinema, including Tsui Hark’s NEW DRAGON GATE INN and Ang Lee’s CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. 🎫To purchase tickets and watch the series: https://watch.eventive.org/apuc13. 💁For more information: https://www.asianpopupcinema.org/. #TaiwanCinema #MartialArts #Wuxia #KingHu
