In this edition of our Original Icons series, we celebrate the glamorous Pillar collection. All our Pillar lights are carefully assembled at our manufacturing site in Witney, Oxfordshire, where each shade consists of meticulously cut glass rods, securely mounted within refined metal brackets. This method allows our Pillar lights to provide a more even, clear, and atmospheric illumination compared to shades made from a single piece of rippled glass.

Originally introduced in 1994, our Hector Pleat design remains a symbol of exquisite craftsmanship (pictured is the floor light with satin brass details). Our founder Peter Bowles reflects on the initial design development> 'When I began working with bone china, I noticed the shadow lines created when the material meets or creases, which I was keen to explore. My original idea was to recreate the pleats on a skirt, but creating movement in the ceramic was too difficult, so we pared back the design until we reached the Pleat.'
