All my life I have been under the pressure of time, even if only in perception, due to personal health issues... but that has driven me to make the most of the time I have. This little label came out of a casual conversation with some friends online, mostly as a joke, but then often times as things do, it became less comical and more viable. So here we are.

I have been playing around with the notion of starting a real record label for some time now, as I have been a music publisher since 1991 with BMI and have worked with many label’s large and small over the years. The plan was to initially wait until the end of 2019 as I have been experimenting, with a modest amount of success mind you, with the streaming segment of this industry and continue to grow the publishing and licensing side through BMI and The Harry Fox Agency.

The real challenge is to find a repeatable process in which success can be realized with each release such that when we sign an artist there is a real shot at getting them somewhere they otherwise would not be able attain on their own, all while NOT taking all of the revenue from them... Promotion is expensive, be it in time, services or both, so this is a real challenge.

It’s one thing when you are the sole creator of your entire publishing catalog, but very much another when you are trying to achieve the same results but have a reduced stake in the outcome despite the costs and efforts remaining static. All that’s left at that point is nothing short of the million mark for annual stream count goal, not really as easy task in todays landscape without landing on numerous, internally curated playlists.
