STAR Academy is a small, public school in the East Village, serving families from all 5 boroughs. We are enrolling students in grades K-5 for the 2022-2023 school year. STAR Academy is an inclusive and diverse community where all learners’ strengths are valued so that they are empowered to think critically about equity and access with the vision of becoming engaged change-makers and advocates for social justice. STAR stands for students taking active roles and we strongly believe that students of all ages can play a meaningful role in their learning, class, school and world! * Parents of children under the age of 18 must register on behalf of their children and must be with their children to be tested
Star Academy is looking for substitute teachers , substitute para professionals and sub schools to provide extra support during our reopening. A current file number with the DOE is necessary. If you or someone you know is interested and qualified, please email [email protected] with your resume, file number and availability.

Exciting news! Star Academy will be having its first ever 3K next year. If you already applied, you can go back and edit your application to include STAR. Please also spread the word to friends, family and neighbors.
At this time, we are planning for your school to serve one 3-K class (15 total 3-K seats) in the upcoming school year.

Register for a STAR Academy Virtual Information Session
so that you can learn more about our PreK, Kindergarten and Grades 1 - 5 program. Our virtual information sessions last about 45 minutes. During the visit (via Zoom), you will learn more about our school, see what life looks like for a student at STAR, and be able to ask questions.
If you love your experience at STAR, we would love for you to spread the word to friends, family and neighbors. Our next information session is tomorrow, March 9th at 12 pm.

3-K and pre-K applications for fall 2021 are now open!
The application process is not first come, first served, and all applications received by the deadline will be treated equally. Families with children born in 2017 can apply to pre-K by the April 7 deadline, and families with children born in 2018 can apply to 3-K by the April 30 deadline.
Families can apply online at MySchools.nyc, or over the phone by calling 718-935-2009. Translation and interpretation services are available through both application pathways. Families can visit nyc.gov/3K and nyc.gov/prek for more information.

Families, as we enter the last 4 days of our Book Fair we want to thank everyone who has participated and supported the PTAs efforts to fundraise for the 5th graders' graduation experience.
As part of our efforts this week, we will be having a LIVE book reading with Ms. Wolf our awesome librarian this Friday at 12:30pm during Lunar New Year. A great way to celebrate and learn more about Lunar New Year.
Ms. Wolf will also be taking kids through some activities related to the book.
Also, we will be doing another random giveaway of a $25 gift card to one of the reading attendees for our Scholastic Book Fair! We hope to see you all then. Check out our latest Class Dojo post for zoom details.

Hey Families, our BookFair is midday way through and there has been a good amount of sales so far, but we are a bit behind goal. Just remember if your child has an eWallet balance, if used before our fair closes Friday, 25% goes to support our 5th graders' graduation experience.
We are also having a raffle of a $25 credit for the Bookfair. To get your child's name in the hat, all you have to do is signup for our new mailing list or follow our new PTA Instagram account before tomorrow at 4pm. We will do the random drawing tomorrow evening and announces the winner of the $25 credit!
