🗓 SUNDAY OCTOBER 24, 3pm-6pm
📍RYAN’S DAUGHTER - 350 East 85th St (between 1st and 2nd ave)
You walk into the bar, the bartender greets you with a pleasant hello and as you look around your eye catches a red neon sign in the back of the room. You’re at Ryan’s.
Some might not know this but that sign comes from a shoemaker that used to work across the street from the bar. Boneventura Di Lorenzo, the Yorkville shoe repair icon, also known by his customers as Lorenzo worked for 34 years on 85th street between 1st and 2nd. When he retired, he had his party at the bar where his sign hangs today.
We hung the sign in honor of all his hard work and then proudly in memory of Lorenzo. Amazingly, we got to see how it’s taken on a second life being an integral part of everyone’s Ryan’s Daughter experience. From watching a pool game to showing your son your favorite spot, the sign is an indication to everyone “Oh, you were at Ryan’s”.
We were sad to announce that it had broken but we can assure you that the sign is being repaired. It should be back soon.
Stay tuned….
Every Monday Ryan’s Daughter has trivia upstairs on the second floor. 4 rounds of trivia, with bonus rounds in between. I’d say it’s a tame affair but then again I wouldn’t want to lie to you

He has long had a way of capturing the neighborhood’s many moods and 2020 has been no different. One of the best gifts under our tree this year was to be included in beautiful new publication! This wonderful book is the result of many years and many thousands of steps for who walked our city, river to river, discovering the countless small businesses on the side streets and the stories of the people behind them. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and work with this team. They know what makes New York, New York and how to really support small businesses! Please consider picking up a copy for yourself and a few for your friends this holiday season!
(We were also thrilled to see Rosie in the book! Anyone who knows Rosie, knows she belongs in there. We love you ❤️).
Now shooting cool licks. Please consider a song or a solo in this space. Any medium or instrument. Music preferred for this one, but surprise us. Support your local by supporting your locals.

was an early Christmas gift for us, btw. She’s the genius behind this year’s design and she also worked diligently to pull it off. Best part? She’s a local resident of For anyone who needs a hand with decorating, personal fitness, visual arts and design, please check out her stuff! A multi-talented wonder, she comes highly recommended as the ablest of workers to boot!
