Perfectly matched (thank you ) beige leather with red stitched kick panels for a Ferrari Scuderia.

FULL custom saddle bags for the Moto Guzzi. These match its seat and tank bra that I made last year.

*Thick 8oz veg tan leather interior, dyed brown.

*Distressed brown oil tanned cowhide glued to that for the exterior. Then over-dyed black for a vintage texture. All edges dyed and burnished.

*Off white leather piping.

*Chrome and vintage studs with off white leather inlays for a classic 1940s motif.

*Chrome hardware with concealed snaps for easy access.

*interior sleeve to hide a custom mounting bracket.

*Steamed into shape. Then oiled, oiled, and oiled again.

*The shape, size and design are original, and all work was entirely done by hand, including punched stitch holes, and all stitching. Alllll stitching.

Long days, cut and calloused fingers, but so worth it. These are the projects and collaborations that make me love my job more and more every day! .meccanica

Interior pieces for the 1962 Jaguar MK ll. Matching new leather to original is always tricky with these projects. Original leather inevitably fades to some extent, and in this case we’re not redoing the rest of the interior (at least not yet), so any variation in color or texture will show.

The trunk panel got fully recovered, while the console got new sides, tray door latch, and a bit of piping around the shifter housing, to blend with the conversion to automatic.

Simple lines in soft, UV protected leather for an FXR 👌

Seats always look best back on the bike! In this case, a BMW GS650 Dakar.

This seat was dramatically raised for a better, more comfortable riding stance and hand shaped to blend into the curved lines, then it was covered in soft, durable marine grade faux leather, with a little style inspiration came from horse saddles. See earlier post for more.

Foam raised considerably, then hand sculpted to blend the additional height into the existing curves. Covered in soft, durable marine grade faux leather, taking styling details from classic horse saddles to accommodate the curves and break up the large seat. Ready to go back on the BMW GS650 Dakar. Foam cleaned up and lowered for a tall rider, and covered in soft vinyl. The design, including vertical seam detail at the front is the same as on the original.

Another Lee Marvin “Chino” on its way to a new hooligan home.

The color way of the iconic sweater that Lee Marvin wore as Chino in the 1953 classic, The Wild One was all but lost to history as no color lobby cards of the black and white film remained.

It was a quote in Hunter S. Thompson’s “Hell’s Angels” that led me to it in 2009 and I’ve been knitting Blue & Gold history ever since.

“Frank (Hell’s Angel’s President, Frisco Chapter 1955-62) was so completely hip that he went down to Hollywood and bought the blue and yellow striped sweatshirt that Lee Marvin wore in The Wild One. Frank wore it ragged, and not only for runs and parties. When he felt the Angels were being prosecuted beyond the norm he would make an appearance in the police chief’s office, wearing his Hollywood sweatshirt and demand justice.”

Frank’s sweatshirt was the actual one worn by Marvin. He tracked down the costume designer and bought the two made for the film. Swipe for a photo of Frank wearing one of the two as unearthed by

Art imitating life, imitating art:
Each sweater is hand knit (to order for a perfect fit) in soft 100% Peruvian wool. Available in adult and baby/kid sizes on the .meccanica website (link in bio) or through DM.

No job too big or small! 🧵🪡 Started the year off with a few visible mending jobs.

1. Vinyl patch on a seat made last year for a vintage triumph that took a slight tumble.

2. Antique riding gloves restitched, patched, cleaned and conditioned.

3. Vintage briefcase restitched, patched, cleaned and conditioned.

4. Vintage wool military sweater. Holes darned, waist and sleeve hems reinforced. Washed, and re-blocked.

The large mat ate up an entire cow hide (because it’s double sided with a stitched edge) and follows the rounded lines of the display counter it will live on.
