We're incredibly proud of our MTech colleagues who volunteered at the Meals by Grace event on June 25th! Their dedication to sorting produce and stocking shelves will make a real difference in the lives of children and families in North Georgia. At Macy's, we believe in giving back to our communities, and these volunteers truly embody that spirit.

Macy's is proud to celebrate a decade of partnership with Dress for Success affiliates and Dress for Success Worldwide! This month, we kicked off a series of career exploration workshops designed to empower women on their journeys to success.

Last week, our Macy's Talent Acquisition team hosted a virtual workshop for over 90 Dress for Success women. The workshop covered topics like resume building, job search tips, interview prep, and more!

We're celebrating the last week of Heritage Month with our amazing colleague Joanne Kim, Sr. Director of Business Strategy. We chatted with her about her heritage and how she brings it to life at Macy’s. 🌟

❓ What is your heritage (specific Asian country or countries)?
Joanne: I'm Korean American. Authentically identifying equally as both Korean and American.

❓ What is your favorite AAPI dish?
Joanne: Mapo Tofu!🍲

❓ Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies related to your heritage?
Joanne: I love to cook and I make my own large batch of kimchi every year. It definitely takes some patience, but nothing beats anything homemade with love!🥢🥬

❓ What is a fun fact about your culture that most people might not know?
Joanne: May is known as 'Family Month' in Korea with 3 dedicated days for children, parents, teachers, with Children’s Day being a national holiday.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

❓ If you could travel to any country in Asia, where would you go and why? ️
Joanne: I'd love to visit Singapore. ️It’s a melting pot of different cultures with a rich history that not only offers amazing food but also world-class attractions & stunning architecture.✈️

❓ Can you share a story about a time you felt proud to be part of the AAPI community at Macy's?
Joanne: An AAPI colleague approached me to share that she often felt she couldn't advance to the next step in her career, but seeing an AAPI leader like myself inspired her to continue her development and be proud of embracing and showing her heritage in the workplace.🌟🤝

❓ Are you a part of any CRG at Macy’s? What benefits have you experienced being a member?
Joanne: When I joined ATEAM CRG as a co-lead, I got to meet many different AAPI colleagues across the company that I'd not have normally, broadening my network and scope to ultimately foster a greater AAPI community at Macy’s and better service the customer with our voice.🎉

❓ What advice would you give to other AAPI individuals considering a career at Macy's?
Joanne: Macy’s is an incredible place to work with colleagues that are smart, compassionate and genuine. You never have to be afraid to speak up & your voice and opinions will be heard without prejudice.✨

This Heritage Month, we're celebrating the incredible stories and cultural richness of our AAPI colleagues! First up, meet Lan Zhang, Senior Project Manager in Merchandising Systems at Macy’s Tech. We sat down with Lan to learn more about her heritage and how she embraces it at Macy's. 🎉

❓What is your heritage (specific Asian country or countries)?
Lan: Proudly Chinese!

❓What is your favorite AAPI dish? 🥟
Lan: Dumplings.

❓Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies related to your heritage?
Lan: I love dancing. 💃🏻 Exploring and engaging in traditional dances allows me to connect with the culture root of my heritage.

❓What is a fun fact about your culture that most people might not know?
Lan: Lucky number – number eight is widely considered lucky in Chinese culture because it sounds like wealth. 🎱

❓If you could travel to any country in Asia, where would you go and why?
Lan: It’s too hard to pick just one since I would love to visit many Asian countries which I have already visited or never visited to explore and learn more. ✈️

❓How do you celebrate and showcase your cultural identity in the workplace?
Lan: There are many ways I share and showcase my cultural identity at Macy's. We organize team-building events where colleagues bring in various traditional Asian foods to share. Additionally, wearing traditional clothing to work and participating in fashion shows and cultural events allows me to display these colorful traditions to my colleagues.👘

❓Can you share a story about a time you felt proud to be part of the AAPI community at Macy's?
Lan: Initiating and organizing the MTech Lunar New Year celebrations was a great experience. I felt immense pride observing coworkers enjoying and learning about Lunar New Year traditions from many Asian countries through cultural showcases like dances, music, decorations, exhibitions, and delicious foods. 🎊🐉

Today, we announced our first-quarter earnings results. Our investments in product, in-store experience, staffing and visual merchandising are gaining traction with our customers and reinforce our belief that Macy’s, Inc. can return to sustainable, profitable growth.

Our EMBRACE Colleague Resource Group (CRG) in Atlanta recently partnered with the Adopt-a-Road litter prevention initiative. Together, they aimed to safely reduce the amount of unsightly trash and illegal signage alongside county roadways. As part of this partnership, we adopted a 1-mile section of Pleasant Hill Road right outside of our Main Campus – from the Chattahoochee River to McClure Bridge Road (near the Duluth post office). This is just one of four cleanups we do each year, where we typically collect 6-10 bags of trash (around 120-200 lbs) with a dedicated team of 8-10 MTech volunteers! ♻️ We're proud to be good neighbors and keep our community clean.

We’re on a mission to help local communities and our planet thrive, which is why we’re supporting Trust for Public Land's Community Schoolyards® Initiative. 100% of in-store and online donations will go to transforming vacant schoolyards into green, nature-filled destinations that promote healthy, quality living for generations to come.

Since our partnership began in 2022, Macy’s has raised nearly $2.6 million, benefiting 6,000 students and over 155,000 community members within a 10-minute radius. Together we can make promote another year of growth for our cherished neighborhoods.

We're thrilled to announce that Macy’s Portland, Tennessee Supply Chain Center was recognized as the "2023 Industry of the Year" award recipient by the Portland Chamber of Commerce. We want to give a huge congratulations to the team for their outstanding contributions in creating local jobs, adopting innovations, investing in the community, and fostering a diverse workplace with over 20 different languages spoken.

Recently, students and faculty from Clark Atlanta University visited our Herald Square flagship for an intensive development workshop hosted by executives and colleagues. The workshop was part of a $100k grant from Macy’s Future of Style Fund, a program created to provide resources and scholarships to the next generation of designers and creators. Clark Atlanta University’s Art and Fashion Department will use this critical funding to provide deserving students with scholarships, produce the department’s annual Fashion Week event, and purchase equipment.

During the visit, the students had a fireside chat with Adrian Mitchell, CFO & COO, and heard career advice from Nata Dvir, Chief Merchandising Officer, and other leaders in store, design, and merchandising. They also had opportunities to visit Denim Studio and attend a styling and beauty workshop hosted by MyStylist team. Each student was matched with a mentor from ONYX CRG, and we launched a mentorship program to help students gain valuable insights about careers in retail and industry trends.
