I know I’m not the only one whose wrist bothers them! In capoeira, you can’t do too much on the ground with an injured wrist; but also in life in general.💡Wrist CARs and bottoms up kettlebell holds are two exercise I use often to improve my wrist stability. If your back is hurting or feels stiff, have you ever checked out your hips? Pull-ups are, in my experience, one of the most challenging gym exercises. It takes a ton of practice. Take it from someone who couldn’t even complete any of the physical fitness tests in grade school 😑.Nonetheless, it’s possible to do them—and do them well! Though forward bending tends to get more criticism from an injury perspective, backward bending is important to, not only perform inversions and other athletic movements, but to improve walking and overhead reaching mechanics.Here, we’re starting with extension; first in the shoulders and then more focused on the thoracic spine. Then, we go a step further; using a wall to help facilitate more movement.Finally, we add a rotational piece to couple with backward bending for more complexity. I think that scapular retraction exercises might be the most difficult to do outside of the gym. There are a few, but tough to do without doing many reps.
