Are we the only ones still thinking about Oscar fashion? It was so good this year! You can see that a lot of thought went into the best looks. Including our favorite fashion moment (and the jewels are gorgeous, too). If you’re into 20th century fashion history at all, you immediately saw the historical reference in Anya Taylor-Joy’s sparkling gown. It’s a modern take on Christian Dior’s famous Junon gown from 1949. In both versions, each fish scale-like section is encrusted with glorious beadwork. We love when classic fashion and jewelry houses create modern interpretations of celebrated designs from their archive. And what an archive Dior has! Beautifully accentuated with Tiffany jewels. We would have liked vintage jewels, of course. 1950s diamonds would have been smashing! But the gown was really the jewel of the look. One of our favorite jewelry moments tonight: Ke Huy Quan in what looks to be a gorgeous Art Deco sapphire & diamond clip. Swipe to see his wife Echo Quan in her complimentary sapphires & diamonds. She’s finally here! 💗 Who is seeing this weekend? Are you curious about the jewels she’ll wear? Wonder if the costume designers recreate the colorful plastic jewelry she had when we were kids. Art Deco jewelry encompasses a large variety of artistic influences. After the discovery and opening of King Tut’s tomb in 1922, there was a fad for anything Egyptian inspired. Scarabs, snakes, & pyramid shapes are just a few of the popular motifs. Our pin also includes Egyptian influenced colors in the enamel. 🐍
