Director Yé Yé visited the No 6 People's Hospital in Shanghai and followed a series of protagonists, including both patients and doctors. In a sensitive, but not sentimental, way, she shows the different hardships of these individuals. Not only does she give a valuable insight into the Chinese health system, but she also portrays these people’s particular social behaviors and attitudes towards life. We talked to the director about her approach to the topic and her relationships with her protagonists. ISFF15 - Rafael Palacio Illingworth - Vida comienza, vida termina (Life Begins, Life Ends) Born in 1978 in Mexico City. 2002 Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences. During the two-year master's degree at the American Film Institute in Directing, he received the "Filmanthropy Fundation" award and the 'Daniel Petrie' scholarship. His film VIDA COMIENZA, VIDA TERMINA (2021), which he shot in Argentina and Switzerland, premiered as official selection at FID Marseille, and was part of the official selection at VIENNALE and MOMA's Doc Fortnight. In 2022 he began production on his feature film ALMA, set in the mountains of south Switzerland. He lives in Zurich, where he runs the production company NORA FILMS. Elizabeth was selected as one of five North American Regional Finalists for the prestigious UN Young Champion of the Earth Prize and is a Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program Grantee for her feature debut, TIGRE GENTE. The film took her six years to complete and she recently celebrated its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 2021.
