Resuming musical rehearsals for the new show. The music is new, there are original arrangements for each song we are doing. Of course, there is tango, but also many other mixed styles and we do not deny any influence.
We are rehearsing at the Casa del Tango Foundation, a place presided over by Osvaldo Pugliese, our mentor and model in the sense of honesty with the public and the honor of the music of Buenos Aires.

“The story began three years ago. The dancer and choreographer was experiencing an incredible artistic moment. Accustomed to traveling the world leading her company “Tangueros del Sur”, she had performed in multiple European and North American theaters with the play “Romper el floor”. Furthermore, his new show, the free choreographic version of the opera “María de Buenos Aires”, by Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, together with the original singer of the 1968 work and luxury guest Amelita Baltar, was achieving great impact and good reviews. . Hills premiered the version at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, an amphitheater built in 61 and the last stage where Piazzolla performed, and then toured ancient theaters in Greece. “There was a beautiful energy. The company was working at full capacity, with the dancers and musicians very enthusiastic about the challenge; the public was vibrating; “I looked at the moon from those imposing settings and thought it was something divine, something from God.”

"Tangueros del Sur" wants to inspire young dancers by giving them the incentive to return to the source of the tango embrace and dancing on the floor but for the stage all the while preserving the essence of this tradition while sharing all its expressive possibilities.
While creating homage to the music of the great artists and brilliant composers of the history of Argentine Tango, the young representatives of our most popular expression will combine modern and traditional aesthetics with energy and dynamic confidence. By doing so, young dancers will excite the world with this passion which identify us.
This company is co-founded by Enrique Gómez Moreyra (1944-2019) and every developed creation is dedicated to him.

[Q.]As this seems to be such a unique project, what could you tell us about your participation with the make-up and costumes... what would it be your biggest challenge?
[A.]The challenge is to add "poetry, drama, surrealism” at 1970 fashion look. And more than everything is to go faraway the" tango cliché."

[Pr.]Como este parece ser un proyecto único, ¿qué nos puedes decir sobre su participación con el maquillaje y el vestuario? ... ¿cuál sería su mayor desafío?
[R.]El desafío es agregar "poesía, drama, surrealismo" a la moda de 1970. Y más que todo es ir más allá del "cliché del tango".

“Romper el piso” era una típica expresión que definía a poner todo en al bailar el tango: el cuerpo y el alma. Épocas doradas del 2x4; el llamado “baile al piso”, sin grandes firuletes, con un estilo moderado en las formas, tocando el suelo, pero intenso en cuanto a movimientos y sentimientos.
Esa expresión es la que el abuelo de la directora de Tangueros del Sur, Natalia Hills, le decía a ella de nena, cuando empezaba en el universo tanguero: “Rompa el piso, Natalia”.
Con el rescate del abrazo, el baile al piso, la gestualidad, por esta obra desfilan los orígenes del género y sus raíces africanas, hasta el presente, junto a lo mejor de todos los tiempos.
Acá se le da espacio, también, a un ensamble de tangueros que brillan con luz propia. Distintos momentos de nuestra música ciudadana e internacional a la vez, con Troilo, Piazzolla, Gardel, Baffa/ Berlingieri en un gran tributo, recreados por una orquesta de nueve integrantes que también la rompe, dirigida por Patricio Villarejo
