In collaboration with dGenerate Films, today OVID launches three experimental films by Tiffany Sia: an artist, filmmaker, and writer looking at the history of colonialism and present-day political turmoil in Hong Kong. Her films have screened at New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, MoMA Doc Fortnight, Flaherty Film Seminar and elsewhere. Her solo exhibition “Slippery When Wet” debuted in 2021 at Artists Space in New York.
"Much of Sia’s work considers the video remnants of the most recent era of cultural uprising in Hong Kong; what is still accessible and what has been disappeared, cast into a litany of red, dead URLs and porous memory." —Screen Slate
"Made in the roiling scrum of mass protest, the movie resists the temptations of spectacle.... Wary of leering eyes and appetites. This is not prudishness. Rather, it is a consequence of a protracted encounter with the unsexy contours of authoritarian violence." —Artforum
