Led by multi-award-winning Director, Writer, Actor, Choreographer, and Editor , yesterday’s Defining Your Vibe Part 1: Personal Narratives workshop gave about 20 NYUers a hands-on tailor their personal story to their career goals, and to the communication strategies that will support it.
With stronger stories about themselves and their practice, these folks will be better equipped to market themselves in stages both physical and digital.
But that was only the first of four sessions! Register now for the three remaining workshops where Breton will support your personal branding and storytelling techniques. The next one, on crafting your professional image, is coming up on November 12.

Introducing our inaugural cohort for the 2024 NYU Artist Development Program for Dance!
The NYU Artist Development Program for Dance is an intensive, cohort-based incubator designed to support NYU alumni in the field of dance in moving to the next stage of their careers. The program will run from May to October 2024.
This year we’re welcoming 6 dance artists:

The NYU Production Lab is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Creative Capital, bringing a host of career development resources to NYU artists! All NYU students and alums working in the arts will have access to the new Creative Capital Curriculum: a multifaceted set of digital resources supporting artists in advancing their careers.
For more than 20 years, Creative Capital has pioneered professional development programs serving more than 80,000 artists, and its institutional values align closely with the Lab’s. We both believe professional education is key to helping artists build sustainable careers, to creating equity in the arts, and to fostering community through a lateral, peer-education model.
Students from across NYU got a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of stage illumination at as part of our collaborative In the Lighting Booth event. Lighting Supervisor Emily Anderson took students on a tour of the lighting booth and gave a demo of the stage illumination system. Thanks to all who attended!

What a weekend for our Feature Film Development Studio fellows! In this cohort’s first intensive, the project teams practiced pitching and discussed everything from crafting a logline to building stories in visual terms, to film budgeting and financing strategies.
Thank you to the wonderful industry mentors who spent time sharing their knowledge with us: Producers , Sara McFarlane of , and Tamir Muhammad of Populace; Story Consultant ; Cinematographer ; Bryce Norbitz of ; and our very own . We are excited to announce six film projects selected for the 2024 Feature Film Development Studio program! This initiative helps emerging artists address both the artistic and commercial elements required to create a market-ready script and investor package. Six writers/directors who are NYU students or recent alumni and their producing partners are part of the initiative’s third class. The 2024 projects represent a diverse group of subjects and styles, and include a 1970s Soviet Union coming-of-age story, a political tale set in the hurricane-threatened Cayman Islands, and a pre-Civil War drama about a doctor performing experimental procedures on enslaved women. The NYU Production Lab and invite you to submit your sports-related films for consideration in the 4th Annual NYU Sports Film Festival! Film submissions are open from January 15 through March 15, and the festival will take place April 26-27. For this year’s festival, we are excited to introduce the Pitch Contest category, through which NYU entrants can submit sports media project pitches for presentation to a panel of industry professionals.
