Fort Trumbull, a historic military fort in New London, CT, traces its roots to the American Revolution (1777). Named after Gov. Jonathan Trumbull, the fort played a significant role in various military conflicts, including the War of 1812. In the 19th century, it underwent several renovations and expansions. During World War II, Fort Trumbull served as a coastal defense installation.
Today, it's a state park offering a glimpse into its rich history through exhibits and scenic views of the Thames River. The site lies adjacent to the Coast Guard Station New London and is managed as the 16-acre Fort Trumbull State Park by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Matt Ramsay's college hobby turned into the founding of Denim Coffee in Central PA with his wife Kristin. From a small arts center space to a bustling operation in Chambersburg, Denim's journey is rooted in unique roasting methods that honor coffee farmers and bridges cultures.

Equity Now's Carlisle office has been known to pop in to Denim for baked treats, coffees, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches. The cold brew is a big favorite, as well as the scones!

🏰✨ Uncover the legend of Coral Castle this !

Built by Latvian immigrant Edward Leedskalnin in the 1920s, this extraordinary structure of over 1,000 tons of coral rock (oolite limestone) has left historians and visitors alike in awe.

Originally known as "Ed's Place," Coral Castle was relocated between 1936 and 1937 from Florida City to Homestead, FL, where it earned the name "Rock Gate" for its impressive rear swinging gate. Leedskalnin's decision to move was fueled by a desire for privacy and a touch of mystery. The castle's coral pieces were meticulously quarried on-site, showcasing his dedication to the project.

At Florida City, Leedskalnin charged visitors ten cents apiece to tour the castle grounds. After moving to Homestead, he asked for donations of twenty-five cents, but let visitors enter free if they had no money. Visitors were left mystified as he never disclosed the secrets of his construction methods, only saying, "It's not difficult if you know how."

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984, Coral Castle continues to capture imaginations. Explore the history, marvel at the craftsmanship, and join the intrigue surrounding this enigmatic masterpiece! 🔍🏰

Since 2011, National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day has grown to be an international event. Now occurring on the third Friday of December, the celebration gives holiday lovers worldwide a chance to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters.

Step into history at the Old Cumberland County Prison in downtown Carlisle! Built in 1854 and operational for over a century, this castle-style landmark, constructed by Edward and John Haviland—a father-son team known as prison builders—served as a jail until 1985. Today, it finds new life as the home to county offices.

Uncover the tales of daring escapes, public executions, and famous inmates like Charles Saylards, publicly executed in 1893 for killing a local police officer; Percy Haines, who shot and killed attorney John D. Faller Jr. at the old county courthouse on Aug. 2, 1955; and Georgia Ann Schneider, accused of murdering a notorious local madame in 1972.

Though the prison's inspiration from an English castle was debunked in 1983, the idea remains a local legend. The television show "Ghosthunters" explored its purported paranormal activity in the episode "Innocent until Proven Dead" in 2015. 👻✨

As an interesting detail, note that the marker mentioning the last hanging in 1894 is incorrect—Martin Luther Fry faced the gallows in 1901.
