Because my body has been craving more opportunities for post-workout recovery, ya girl tried her first infrared sauna.🔥 I was hesitant to try it because the high temps of a traditional sauna are always too hot for me to handle, BUT I learned that the two are actually really different!

The difference is that an infrared sauna uses infrared lamps to heat the body directly as opposed to warming the air like a traditional sauna. The infrared wavelengths not only deeply penetrates the skin but also vibrates at the same wavelength as the water in your cells and thus warms your body on a cellular level. 💡 Hydration is key! Definitely drink a lot of water leading up until your session so you aren't risking dehydration after your session.

on workout technique: “We use a lot of progression. If you come out for a workout, you’re going to start slow. As slow as you need to. We’re always going to finish faster. Every rep is ideally getting faster along the way. The last 10-30% of a workout.. you’ll push your body outside of its comfort zone.”

on positive mental attitude: “It really tests you not just physically but it tests you from a mental and physical standpoint. When you hit that wall and you’re 20 miles in or something.. don’t focus on how much there is to go. Focus on what you can do next. Maybe it’s get to that next water station. Maybe it’s “I need to walk for 5 minutes”. Whatever it is, just keep moving forward and you will get there.”

emphasizing routine: “It’s pretty commonplace to understand that you can’t outrun a poor diet. You also can’t out-train a poor lifestyle. Your success always stems from proper nutrition, sleeping well, hydrating.. For those of you who want more, there are ways to expedite the process through recovery”

So much of what I do with my athletes and whenever I coach my team is I just try to get them to realize.. just calm down. When I get them to see perspective.. I want them to realize that they need to push themselves so they can really live.”
