This is my version of working remotely. If you don’t think it’s healthy for your child to sit and game all night, then it’s definitely not healthhealthy for for an older adult. That’s the positive energy of this studio. It will inspire you and boost your creativity.

I often visited Universities that would be considered historically White. All the curriculum is that of colonization. I have ancestors who participated in the foundation of this great city called New York City. So until the next Emperor rises in Ethiopia, I’m basically an unemployed migrant, who’s been offered the opportunity for a happy life. Why would anyone be here and not try to take it over?

I woke up especially thankful today. Drinking cheap coffee in a luxury cup, burned a little herb and ready for work.

Summed up in three words and one photo. Coffee, Music & Cannabis.
This is how the City Of New York helped me fit in with the city. This pic right here is the real show of love New York City has to offer. 3 meals. I don’t eat that s**t. They offered way more better: Shelter.
Added some vintage amps
This is one of my most favorite parts of a studio installation.

Drumming is life
Traditionally, the drum was the heartbeat, the soul of most African communities. Drums have been an intrinsic part of African life for centuries and for countless generations, an ancient instrument used to celebrate all the aspects of life. In Western culture drumming is, most often, about entertainment. In Africa, drums hold a deeper, symbolic and historical significance. They herald political and social events attending ceremonies of birth, death and marriage. They spark courtships, they herald home-coming and going and they accompany religious rites and rituals, calling up ancestral spirits.
They are used as an alarm or a call to arms stirring up emotions for battle and war. They can also inspire passion and excitement and even cause trances, a momentary loss of consciousness to either the drummer or the listener. They symbolize and protect royalty and are often housed in sacred dwellings. They are protected during battle.
On the other side, drums are about communication and making music, two essential characteristics of community life. For centuries the ‘talking drums’ were a primary source of communication between tribes used to transmit messages sometimes across great distances.

Mbira are a family of musical instruments, traditional to the Shona people of Zimbabwe. They consist of a wooden board with attached staggered metal tines, played by holding the instrument in the hands and plucking the tines with the thumbs. The "Art of crafting and playing Mbira/Sansi, the finger-plucking traditional musical instrument in Malawi and Zimbabwe" was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020.
Cherry is an amazing model/person to work with.

There are certain spirits around the African drum. One is the spirit of the tree, the spirit of the goat who gave its skin, and the spirit of the craftsman.

Their are several spirits that live around drums. One is the spirit of the tree who provided its trunk, the goat that provided its skin, and the spirit of the craftsman, who oftentimes has injuries while crafting the drum. The right drummer who’s in tune spiritually will connect with these spirits.
Quite a production today. This is a behind the scene of a all vegan food and desert shoot.
