WHERE TO GO CAMPING NEAR NYC🌲🏕️

Our beautiful city in gorgeous, But sometimes you want to get away and have a bit of fresh air🌲 We have collected some recommendations on easy day-trips or weekend get-away within easy reach of NYC.

1: WILDWOOD STATE PARK🌳 (2 hrs drive)
You'll have 600 acres of forest to explore, including a high bluff overlooking Long Island Sound. There are newly built cottages located among the trees for 2-6 people, or bring your trailer or tent to set up your temporary home. The grounds offer swimming, shaded picnic tables, fishing and hiking, paddle boarding and more.

2: GUNKS CAMPGROUND🌲(2 hrs drive)
The Samuel F. Pryor III Shawangunk Gateway Campground is a minimalist operation with a pavilion and cooking area, bathhouse and restroom facilities, and circulation trails. There are 50 parking spots and all sites accommodate up to two tents (and four people) per pad. The park itself boasts 50 miles of footpaths, three lakes and multiple waterfalls.

3: HARRIMAN STATE PARK🌳 (1 hrs drive)
With 31 lakes and reservoirs, 200 miles of hiking trail, and two beaches, you could visit this park in Rockland County all summer and still see something new every time. The group camps here have all the creature comforts: dining halls, tent platforms, and even three-sided shelters. It is huge for perfect for a long weekend.

4: HAMMONASSET BEACH STATE PARK🐚
For people who prefer a little more sand, for Summer camping, This Place is perfect at this Connecticut spot, which, with two miles of beach, is the largest shoreline park in the state. It also boasts 550 campsites, plus adorable wooden "rustic cabins" with bunk beds. And don’t miss a visit to the onsite Meigs Point Nature Center to brush up on your indigenous flora and fauna.

BEST BEACHES IN NYC FOR THE SUMMER ☀️🌊

Summer is here, and there are so many beaches to visit outside of NYC - and some are not even that far away.
Here are our top picks! 🌊☀️ enjoy!

1: Jones Beach on Long Island 🌊
Jones Beach is one of New York State’s biggest, with 6.5 miles of sand, two swimming pools, a two-mile boardwalk, miniature golf and the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center which offers educational tours.
It’s a hit and full of activities for the whole Family☀️ (nearly 1,5 hour drive)

2: Cherry Grove Beach
Cherry Grove is one of two Fire Island communities that's all about the g**s. Here you'll find cute summer cottages, a collection of lively bars and eateries and a beachfront packed with q***r boys and girls.
Since the ’60s, New York’s gay and le***an crowd has ridden the ferry to cool off at this serene hamlet, which is only accessible by wooden walkways. (Nearly 2,5 hour drive)

3: Coney Island Beach
The city's playground, Coney Island, NY, has been the center of seaside amusement since before the turn of the 20th century and over the years, it has been romanticized in film and music—beloved for its exciting rides and wacky attractions for children and the nostalgic memories it brings to adults, but the arrival of the Luna Park amusement park restored the area’s lively nature.
Be prepared to stay a FULL day here as there is so much to do! (Nearly 33 min drive from Manhattan)

4: Brighton Beach
Previous option was to experince the energy at Coney Island Beach and take it all in. (Which is a lot!) Option two is close to Coney Island beach (also about 30 min drive from Manhattan) at Brighton Beach, a smaller, quieter beachfront in a neighborhood of the same name. And the real attraction is arguably off the boardwalk: the gritty charm of the largely Russian community nicknamed Little Odessa and its groceries selling traditional Russian foods and restaurants with menus boasting hard-to-find vodka.

The lineup includes The Late Show with Stephen Colbert bandleader Louis Cato; trumpeter Steven Bernstein playing the music of James Bond with Arturo O’Farrill and The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra; the NYC premiere of Ghanaian highlife band Gyedu-Bly Ambolley; Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE dance company; South African world pop star Thandiswa Mazwai and many more.

Though this year's exact route hasn't been announced, the Pride March typically kicks off at 25th Street and 5th Avenue, then proceeds south on 5th Avenue before heading west on 8th Street. MOTHER’S DAY 🩷🌸💐
Sunday 12th May.

NYC offers a wide range of ways to celebrate the most important lady in your life. Make a reservation for brunch, book an appointment at one of the many wonderful spas in NYC and get tickets to an event or one of several Broadway shows to make the day extra special. There are plenty of ways to spoil mum this year, so read our guide to make her smile.

1: FRENCH STYLE BRUNCH AT ‘’LE ROCK’’
The French style restaurant will offer a three-course Fête des Mères menu for $110, complete with pastries from sister restaurant Frenchette, appetizers like pâté maison and leeks vinaigrette, entrées such as French Toast Supreme and Fluke Meunière, and an assortment of petit fours and other sweet confections to finish things off.

2: WORLD SPA💦
World Spa is a new 50,000-square-foot space in Brooklyn bringing the authentic spa experiences from all around the world to the middle of Brooklyn.
Visitors get to indulge in Eastern European banyas (Russian steam baths with wood stoves), Finnish saunas, cleansing Himalayan salt therapy sessions, Turkish and Morrocan hammams (types of steam baths), Japanese onsens (hot springs) and much more.

3: MOTHER’S DAY HIGH TEA AT OSCAR WILDE🫖
Treat your mom like the queen she is during high tea at this Prohibition-style bar. In honor of Mother's Day, the price is only $30 per head for a delicious spread including rosemary olive oil scones with honey butter and apple marmalade and an array of finger sandwiches: cucumber and cream cheese; pimento cheese; smoked salmon with dill and crème fraiche; and smoked ham, Swiss cheese and Dijon aioli. Desserts follow while you sip your tea.

4: Go for a stroll at New York Botanical Gardens 💐

Stop and smell the flowers with mom this year at the Mother’s Day Garden Celebration at New York Botanical Garden. It’s happening on both May 11 & 12 from 11 am – 5 pm, and you can expect all sorts of fun activities happening on Daffodil Hill. Finding the need for a road-trip away from the big city, for Memorial Day Weekend?

• 2 hours minimum within Manhattan.
• 3 hours minimum for outside Manhattan.

See our recommendations below:

1: FIRE ISLAND

Despite being a short commute from Manhattan, Fire Island is like its own little paradise where stress melts away into the ocean breeze. This Atlantic barrier island is dotted with a series of car-free villages, most of which can only be accessed by ferry. Each village has its own distinct feel, but one thing they all have in common is that they come alive in the summer, and Memorial Day Weekend is an epic kick-off. You’ll find pristine protected beaches, great food, and plenty of drinks to go around.
Nearly 2 hours drive from Manhattan

2: MONTAUK

This dreamy community graces the far eastern tip of Long Island, and it offers a far more low-key energy than what you’ll find next door in the Hamptons. The famous Montauk Lighthouse, which marks “the end of the world” on the farthest point of New York State, has become an unofficial symbol of New York City summer. Montauk is home to six state parks, fantastic fishing, and great seafood.
Nearly 3 hours drive from Manhattan.

3: LAKE GEORGE
The crystal clear air of the Adirondack Mountains is a far cry from the polluted city energy downstate, and Lake George is the perfect place to take it all in. Hop on a boat to enjoy the lake’s rich blue waters or lounge in the sand on Million Dollar Beach. If you want to explore beyond the shores, wander through the charming nearby town or traverse one of the postcard-perfect hiking trails in the area.
Nearly 4 hours drive from Manhattan.

HAPPY PASSOVER TO OUR DEAR CUSTOMERS 💙✨🗽

Passover is a time of reflection and celebration for those of Jewish heritage, when the community commemorates their ancestors’ exodus from Egypt and the end of slavery for their people. This year, Passover begins at sundown Monday, April 22 and ends at sundown on Tuesday, April 30. Many NYC institutions have special Passover menus and treats that you can enjoy in-person or bring home to celebrate the holiday with loved ones, if you want to avoid the big cleanup or just want to get outside 🥰
Here are our recommendations:

1: Passover with Bubby’s ⭐️
Join friends and family to celebrate Passover with the iconic American restaurant Bubby’s Tribeca. The beloved dining spot is offering a self-led Seder menu (you and your party are on your own for everything but the food) on Monday, April 22, and Tuesday, April 23 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Bring your own Haggadah (BYOH); price is $100 per person.

2: Nat’s on bank ⭐️
Join popular West Village restaurant Nat’s on Bank for a Second Night of Passover meal on Tuesday, April 23. Nat’s unique take on the Seder offers a four-course menu on which each dish represents an item from the traditional Seder plate. Dinner is $80 per person (welcome beverage included).

3: Chabad of Midtown Manhattan Seder ⭐️
On Monday, April 22, Chabad of Midtown Manhattan will once again be offering the public a chance to celebrate the freedom of Passover. Enjoy a community Seder complete with hand-baked matzah, wine, and a gourmet repast in the heart of New York City.

4: Katz’s Deli ⭐️
Iconic New York City staple Katz’s Deli is offering a three-course Passover spread this year which you can order via their own delivery platform! For $35.95 per person, the meal comes with the choice of an appetizer (matzoh ball soup, chopped liver, gefilte fish), a main dish (hand-carved brisket, ½ roast chicken, hand-carved turkey, pastrami, or corned beef), and a dessert (honey cake, chocolate babka or chocolate rugelach).

Happy Passover everyone! 💙🗽

EARTH DAY month in NYC 💚🌍🌲

Check out the best Earth-Day events in the city we have found, and show some love for Mama Earth and attend these epic Earth Day events in NYC to support various environmental causes.

1: Open Streets: Car-free Earth Day
The city will celebrate on April 20 by turning a portion of some streets into car-free zones from 10am-4pm. This year, 53 streets and plazas across all five boroughs will be part of the program, making it the largest-ever car-free Earth Day in the history of NYC.

In addition to making areas more accessible to bike riders and pedestrians, the celebration will include musical and art-related programs for everyone to enjoy, plus a series of awesome activations.

2: Earth Day Festival at Governors Island

Looking for a way to give back this Earth Day? You can head to Governors Island for its third annual Earth Day celebration, which will “celebrate the power of native plants” through free educational activities and workshops for all ages.
On Saturday, April 20, from 1-3pm in Colonels Row, you can partake in events like a guided tour through the Island’s open space, a participatory mural inspired by the relationship between milkweed and Monarch butterflies, cyanotype printing activities, seed ball workshops and free bike lessons with Bike New York, among others. Even more important, though, is the volunteer stewardship projects taking place in the morning, from 10am to noon:

3: ‘’Single Use Reflections’’ Sculpture
Sadly, seeing trash on New York City's streets is nothing new. Candy wrappers, cigarette butts, latex gloves, random clothing, and single-use cups litter sidewalks and roadways.

In honor of Earth Month, a new sculpture aptly titled "Single Use Reflections" encourages viewers to pay closer attention to the trash we create—and how we can change that both systemically and individually. Beauty brand Kiehl's unveiled a sculptural installation by artist and activist Benjamin Von Wong. The artwork is on view at the High Line through April 17.

4: EARTH DAY New York 🌍
There’s nothing like a day of worshipping our planet to put an optimistic spin on dwindling resources, rising sea levels and the alarming acceleration of climate change. Head to Earth Day Initiative's annual festival at Union Square on April 14 (12-6pm) to meet dozens of environmental non-profits and green businesses, learn about climate campaigns, hear speeches, and take part in interative workshops. Leave with a plan to up your eco-friendly game.

5: Grand Bazaar NYC
Grand Bazaar is one of NYC’s oldest and largest marketplaces where you can buy vintage treasures, antiques, clothing and more goodies from more than 100 local merchants. Photographers, jewelers and furniture designers sell their best on Sundays between 10am and 5pm on the Upper West Side (77th Street at Columbus Avenue).
Each week offers a different theme, from featuring women-owned businesses to focusing on handmade items to spotlighting international wares. The market runs both indoors and outdoors each week all year long.
For Earth Month, the bazaar will host several eco-friendly events, beginning with the NYC Upcycled Pop-Up on April 14, followed by the NYC Earth Day Bazaar on April 21, and wrapping up with the Vintage Treasures Bazaar on April 28.

04/01/2024

There will be a staggering 200,000 tulips on display for the city’s first-ever Tulip Day. The best part? You’ll get the chance to pick a bouquet of ten tulips of your choice for free.
