Here are pics from our lovely concert at James Lenox House that boasts 158 years of providing independent living for older adults including our very own alto Vivian.
We came in from the rain to sing for a while for the residents. As usual, our maestro René played a myriad of instruments including the beautiful baby grand piano adorned by Gwyn’s traveling LED peace and love signs.
There was an impromptu “Happy Birthday” song to Bill, an impromptu “Rock-A-My-Soul” in addition to our other sing-alongs, and even a rendition of the Andrews Sisters classic “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon.
Thanks to Vivian and her fellow residents for welcoming us into their home for this very special outreach concert.

Service through Music since 2001
Peace of Heart Choir, a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation, was founded in 2001 by local composer Jeff Becker, who recruited 28 volunteer singers to present his original 9/11 commemorative song at a NYC Recovers community event. Today it is directed by Robert René Galván.
That one gathering forged a bond among those who responded. Not wanting a mutual vision of healing and community building through music to end, a handful of those volunteer singers formed the Peace of Heart Choir. The idea was simple, poignant: Diverse music drawing on cultures, languages and styles from around the world could promote healing, build bridges, and thereby foster community.
Not long after its founding, in both 2002 and 2003, the choir was honored as the "New Yorkers of the Week" by the popular New York City cable news channel, NY1. As reported by NY1 correspondent Roger Clark, choir members Charlie Palmer (a founding member) and Vanessa Wilson (a soprano member at the time), explained the choir’s mission.
