So nice to see this recent post about KB Tomega Fahim+++/ ( KB Omega Fahim++++// ox x *Thassia (Bahadur x Thirza by Sulayman). Hopefully there will be some ShA foals on the ground by him someday!
Five out of Five and Five?
Congratulations to Lily Creek Kong on his 5th Tevis Start AND 5th completion.
Result: 5th place finish w Jenna Harrison.
Congratulations to this team and all his connections.
He is sired by the Shagya-Arabian *Dante LCR (Nasrallah x Daphne) who is available for breeding as is Kong's paternal 1/2 brother, LC Desert Dancer aka Chips, AERC #: 49409.
It's in the bloodlines when you give it a chance.

Good luck to these three & everyone else.
Nice to meet this Shagya-Arabian mare and spend some time visiting with her people - they are competing in today's VT 100 Mile Endurance Ride.
Lily Creek Believer's Journey by Lily Creek Bataan (Bahadur x SW Selabation) out of Lily Creek Diva Dance (Sarvar x Dynamos Dancer ox).
Great to see that three Shagya-Arabian bred horses are on the Tevis Cup 100 Day Ride 2024 official entry list:
Bodhisattva DSG is by the Shagya-Arabian stallion Bayram (*Oman x *Biala).
Bohdi is competing with his owner/rider Sarah Hunt.
He joins the two other geldings: Joszef (aka Sundance Kid) by SMR Garcon, another son of *Oman, and Lily Creek Kong by *Dante LCR.
There is another horse listed on the entry list as a "Shagya" but the mentioned geldings are the ones whose lineage is recorded.
Good luck to all the entered horses, their riders and crews!

The Tevis Cup – 100 Miles – One Day Western States Trail Ride – 100 Miles – 1 Day – Trail Ride The Western States Trail Ride, popularly called the Tevis Cup Ride, is the oldest modern day endurance ride, having been held annually since 1955. As such, it has been the inspiration and model for the most challenging endurance rides worldwide.
Congratulations to all the Shagya-Arabians & their connections who have qualified for the European Junior Championships (endurance) this year.
There's a list out there ;-) but fun fact: our mare's grandson, Koheilan Barni, has qualified with his Junior rider. Neat!
Also, big congratulations to Mersuch XXV-37 and his rider & connections for his qualification for the European Junior Championships (eventing/cross country) and on their recent 2nd place at CCI2 *.
Go Shagya-Arabians, Go!
Good luck to all the entrants in the 2024 Tevis Cup 100 Mile One Day Ride / Western States Ride and the Vermont 100 Moonlight Ride both rides are occurring this coming weekend.
Good luck to all the Shagya-Arabian bred horses entered and their connections!
There's Lily Creek Stetson's photo on the home page. He won the Vermont 100-mile ride in 2017 - I think he also won BC but don't quote me.
This is one of the few 100-mile races in USA which horses and humans run alongside one another.
Pretty cool!
I wonder if it is possible to find out of any of these "Operation Cowboy" horses used by this circus were actually Shagya-Arabians...
"Their long manes, arched necks, and articulated movement entranced audiences. In 1962, Lippizan horses- famous for their haute e’cole training at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria- were brought to Myakka City by Ottomar Hermann after “Operation Cowboy,” a military plot to evacuate 300 hostage Lippizans from Russian forces."
Cool article nonetheless.
What's that Line?
Check out Mersuch XXV-37 (Mersuch XXV x 464 Dahoman # # -79). A 10-year-old stallion with a height of 1.71 cm.
He competes at CCI** and was the winner of the Teilnehmer European Eventing Championships for Juniors 2023.

ISG Meeting 2024.
Wonderful to see these photos and videos from the Shagya-Arabian horses presented at the ISG Meeting last weekend.
I enjoy seeing a variety of the different strains of the breed represented.
Good reminder to try to refer to the breed as Shagya-Arabian vs. Shagya... as Shagya is just one of the strains within the breed.
Fun to see one of them is an excellent jumping horse!

"Categories. Names of."
Just like any breed, there are rules and guidelines set in place to help preserve and maintain that breed.
Here in North America the Shagya-Arabian breed is preserved and maintained by two fellow ISG Member Registries who fall under the ISG umbrella.
The categories for "Shagya-Arabians" and crossbreds or what I often call "Shagya-Arabian Bred" horses or ponies, include:
Shagya-Arabian: Book I,
Shagya-Arabian: Book II.
Appendix Shagya-Arabian Book I,
Appendix Shagya-Arabian Book II.
Shagya Sporthorse,
Part Shagya.
There's a lot to it but the rules & categories for registration are explained in the Breeding Guidelines and the RZBO.
Basically, a horse falls into one of the "Shagya-Arabian" categories and is therefore a "Shagya-Arabian" or it doesn't and is recorded as a Part Shagya or Shagya Sporthorse, right?
When I want to breed a Shagya-Arabian, I look at which Book the sire and dam are recorded in (Book I or Book II), what percentage Shagya-Arabian vs. Arabian a horse is in its 4th generation, whether or not it has been approved for breeding and/or whether or not a stallion has met his performance testing requirement...or was exempt.
Visit the registry and ISG websites & breed resources to learn more about the breed and the rules because ... they're worth it!

How cool is this? Cheryl Himes shared this photo and information about a Shagya-Arabian bred gelding from the 1960's here in USA!
Cheryl Himes:
"ZALROSA 1A8891 - NO DETAILS IN DS He was awarded a Top Ten at the 1965 Nationals in Gelding Halter although there were only 7 entries.
In my database I have him as a Jan 1955 (or 56) CG by Tarosa AHR 7569 and out of the imported Hungarian mare Gazal (or Gazal II) whom I believe was a Shagya. Tarosa (Tarz Adami x Kinrosa by *Sunshine) was gelded as a 3 year old and has no foals listed in DS so ZALROSA may be his only offspring."
So cool that Cheryl Himes is willing to share this type of stuff with others - check out her resouse on FB: HALF-ARABIAN HISTORY LOST & FOUND.
Check out these photos and video clips from the ISG meeting that's happening this weekend. Sorry I missed it but always great to catch glimpses from afar :-)
Neat video clip of Gharib ox (Anter x Souhair). Gharib influenced the Shagya-Arabian breed here in USA via the imported Shagya-Arabian stallion, *Amurath Samurai (Navarra x Amurath Sadika by Gharib ox).
*Amurath Samurai sired many foals in Canada, including some black horses, from a variety of mares.
His Shagya-Arabian offspring have greatly influenced the breed here in USA, namely via full brothers Starwalker and Max, and the mare *Samantha - who are all out of *Kornelia.
All three noted were bred by the Stelli Family of Compton, Quebec.
FYI: Starwalker is currently available for breeding via frozen semen stored at Select Breeders Services and there may be some Max frozen semen out there, too.
Breed to a Shagya-Arabian and enjoy the ride!
Gharib (Anter x Souhair) Imported from The EAO El Zahraa Stud in Egypt to Germany by Marbach Stud...
Check out this interesting article. Fun to see some interesting pedigree connections as well as the mention of *Genesis (Garwolin ox x Pandora) who was imported to USA along the Part Shagya warmblood stallion a few years ago...

The Swift Runner - Secrets of Doktryner The stallion Doktryner was foaled in 1950, so you’d be justified asking why he should be of particular interest today. There are two reasons, however. One is that if you look closely, you find him in the pedigrees of an amazing number of very different breeds. The other is that only recently, gene...
Here’s a video of an example what one can produce when they selectively cross a Shagya-Arabian with a Warmblood, producing a horse that is out there competing today:

Here is the ISG article that explains the now required sire lines that are necessary for purebred Arabians to be approved /used for Shagya-Arabian breeding.
Great to see the Lily Creek Kong is officially signed up for the 2024 Tevis.
I think he is the only registered Shagya-Arabian bred horse entered this year?
In any event, good luck to Lily Creek Kong and Jenna Harrsion as well as all the other entrants.

Nice to see that one of the Active Approved Stallion Listings has been updated.
FYI: *KS RUBIN, *OLIVERO and STARWALKER are three others that are Approved for Breeding and Available for Breeding in USA.

Between these ShA stallions and those approved with PShR, there's plenty of Approved Shagya-Arabian stallions to choose from.
