The before and after are really like two different houses. What you don’t see is the help I brought in to change the panel box and rewire a lot of the house, and redo the entire plumbing service from the meter to the septic. It was ready to be given new life!
Thanks to my mother in law for the work and for her patience for so long without certain creature comforts around the house while I got it figured out.

Odds and ends this week

A few little nice touches to add (hardware parts and a spare shelf option) but this is a wrap on an awesome job. The task was to add closets to a finished basement. So I went thru a wall and added mirrored closets and wall to wall bookshelf with lighting to hold an extensive book collection.

Absolutely loved this!

The After: a beautifully revised living space in a 1920s Sears catalogue kit house in North Rose. Gutted to the studs, removed the last circuits of k**b and tube, rebuilt and creatively finished. For a carpenter who is not usually into drywall in pretty proud of this.
Out of the can white on trim, SW7012 Creamy on the walls and a pergo floor with sound pad.

Peep those crown molding returns over every bumped out window and door header.

The time has come to get back into full swing with the business. Slots will fill up quickly for projects and renovations. And I’m beyond grateful to say I’ll be building my first timber frame structure solo this spring.

I’m very proud of this project, and relieved it’s finally wrapped up after some delays with nosy neighbors trying to stop the build for whatever reason. But the town, and the customer love it and that’s a win! A fun and challenging design and the fence wall we had to add was honestly a great addition. The night lighting definitely adds a mood.

Just a quick add on so the steps are safer for the generations living there who need a hand to traverse the steps.

Two very very hot days and I forgot to take a swim…but I got both sets of stairs, rebuilding a platform/repairing more, and putting all new railings onto this deck.

I will be putting in a oversized doggy door tomorrow but as of today it’s a wrap on this beautiful kitchen! Such a huge difference what skim coating the walls and new fixtures and cabinets etc can do.

A little fence this week, the weather held perfectly and I went to finish it today to get the gates on for its future doggy occupant.

Was a pleasure to work in the sun this week!

Never did see a foundation start to rot right through cement blocks but decades of a tilted slab caused real damage to this house. Thankfully opening it up immediately started to dry it out and I filled the cavities and gave them some new drainage direction and a nice new lifetime porch with trex.

It took a lot of focus and working around the kids being sick but I’m very happy with how this turned out. A beautiful trim job really enhances and changes a house!

The exciting conclusion of Costanza Sausage, the LED Pig was well received and I’m excited to come by as a patron soon.

The first installment at Costanza Sausage, two adjustable shelf units with a drawer for squares and jars.

Next is two rolling retail counters with butcher block tops and recessed cutouts with lighting…going to be really cool!

Just had to put a skirt on today...and what a complete look it gives.
Another happy customer and thank god for these oddball weather days!

Just a quick trim, beautiful house but was only missing baseboard and some of the complex edge cuts. What a cleaner look than the bottom of drywall!

I was fortunate enough to send myself to a workshop that teaches timber framing and classic techniques this last year and then go raise a building which I actually helped cut Timbers for. Currently look for any and all timber related projects like Arbors, gazebos, covered porches, sheds, small outbuildings, to hone in my cutting skills with and could become a beautiful lifetime feature on your property!

Various work I’ve done in the past several years to the city house I overhauled and many wonderful customers homes.
(Some work was collaborative, though the moral majority here is all myself)
