Q's Lounge

A few months, I asked Will (DJ Dyztort) to lead QXT’s 33rd anniversary celebration's marketing campaign. I am glad he accepted. Now, I am just sharing some of his thoughts:

“… Normally, a 33rd anniversary is just a normal anniversary.
But we are talking about QXT’s, our venue or “HomeAway” that is basically 1/3rd of a century old.

And that is a much more legendary accomplishment when you think about some other truly amazing venues in the USA: The Castle in Florida is celebrating its 32nd anniversary. Or, Death Guild in San Francisco that is celebrating its 31st consecutive year as a club night.

QXT’s though, the very building we play our trade in, has been the home for Goth/industrial/ Dark alternative scene longer than any other. We all know Q’s is legendary but we need to remind the world that Q’s is legendary. We have had national touring acts, merchants and patrons come through our venue from all over the world plus thousands of parties and local performers.

The majority of the staff currently employed at QXT’s is the team that saw it through COVID and a national shutdown, a shutdown that saw many venues and nights collapse across the U.S. but not us. Q’s is still here. Proud to be part of it…”

Why is QXT's (Official) so special? Well, I walked into Qxt's 25 years ago since that day Qxts became my home away. I walked into Q's in a black shiny latex catsuit with 6-in stiletto high heels dressed to kill and fell in love. People I have never met came up to me and said I know you, I've seen you. I have seen first hand from the beginning how special this place was to be. The fun open tolerant accepting and understanding safe environment was a focal point of the club's existence. With its music, dancing, colorful and unique people it thrived. And 25 years later it's still has the same feel and vibe I found the day I walked in.

I have filled many roles at Qxt's starting simply as a patron. After 10 years I found myself emceeing and promoting events mostly on my own because I wanted to. I made many friends over the years and still have many of them today. Sadly some have passed, some have moved on, and some relationships broke but that's life and that's okay. There was so much fun. I'm still here. I'm still doing everything I can do to keep Qxts the special place that it is. This was the begining and to be continued in another post....
