Gas Flare Reline job turned out great. Installed Alkegen Durablanket S and Alkegen Silplate Mass 1500 over stainless mesh at top to aid in protection from abrasion and weather. We strive to add value for our customers in every project. We would welcome a conversation to discuss your refractory needs and propose a plan to improve your process.

Finished up a shutdown job. Our driver loaded out on horizontal rain and used pretty much every square inch of the trailer. This was the last trip for this tractor, picking up a new one tomorrow. Unloading, cleaning up, making equipment repairs and getting ready to do it again!

Got a call from a customer needing an emergency repair at 6:30 onFriday night. We made some calls and put a crew, equipment and materials on the road this morning to head 500 miles to make it happen! Great job by our dedicated crew.

URS was excited to participate in the Wayne County 8th Grade Career Carnival. Schools from districts all around the county participated and 8th graders got to have hands-on experiences in all types of industries - including refractories!

We did a simplified pre-cast pour using plaster and did some QC checks on forms. We were impressed by the engagement of some of the students and the interest they had in our process. Plus they got to take home a little trinket!

We are fortunate for opportunities like this to share the trades with youth in the community!

URS was proud to sponsor the 2023 Green Harbor Salmon Slam for it's second year. Our employee, Robert Vazquez and his team Reel Chaos, was the winner of the tournament!

The goal is to be the team that catches up to 6 Salmon from Lake Ontario. Scoring is based on 10pts per fish and 1pt per pound. This year the tournament paid out the top 3 teams, as well as big fish. The beginning of the tournament offered ideal fishing weather conditions, however the “Big” salmon had not shown. When the “Big” fish started showing, Mother Nature brought a lot of high winds, storms, and down pours making for tough fishing conditions. The teams pushed through and at the end of it all Team Reel Chaos took 1st place by a narrow 3.88pt margin, in 2nd was Team Triple Threat and in Third Team Linda Lou.

Robert Vazquez caught the "Big Fish of the Tournament" by taking a night trip out deep on Lake Ontario, catching a 19.44 lb King Salmon, then several other large salmon over 40 minutes, resulting in a 25.14 lb King Salmon! Not only was that fish the biggest of the tournament, it meant the difference between 1st and 2nd place for his team.

Large precast ladle liner, cast and dried to 1200 degrees F in our custom built drying furnace. This shape weighs 11,000 #. After drying it is lifted about 10’ off the floor and installed into the steel shell using one of our radio controlled overhead cranes. Great job by our crew.

Today we held our annual safety training. We took the day to review and refresh all of our safety programs, perform annual inspections and fit testing, and come together as a team to make sure we put safety first.

Nice 28’ burner pipe that our crew completed this week. Dried in our custom furnace that we designed and built specifically to accomodate burner pipes. This provides a reliable, evenly heated and efficient initial heat up. We would appreciate the opportunity to quote your project.

URS 20 year anniversary and employee picnic. Yesterday we hosted well over 100 business partners, neighboring businesses and political leaders. Our management team conducted countless plant tours, answered lots of questions and had the opportunity to show off our accomplishments and technology. We had visitors from Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and every corner of New York. Thanks for all who made this day so successful! Today we celebrated with our talented and dedicated team and their families. On behalf of the Wetmore and URS families we are eternally grateful to share this milestone. We had great food from Bad to the Bone Catering, and games for the kids. We missed some photos, but wanted to share what we could.
