Missing teeth?? No problem!

This patient was congenitally missing her upper lateral incisors, but in 2 years of treatment with braces we were able to move her upper canines into the position of the missing teeth and reshape them to look like the lateral incisors. The result means no more spaces and no dental work (like implants or bridges) in the future! ✨

While we all can learn some cool tricks from Tik Tok - some things are better left for the professionals! One such trend is at home "teeth filing", which if not done properly can cause serious sensitivity and damage to your teeth 😱.

Dr. Honig and Dr. Lisa perform this procedure (formally known as enameloplasty) when a patient's braces are removed. This ensures that the teeth are in their proper position before they are reshaped. The tooth anatomy and bite for each patient are considered when they perform this finishing touch.

Our patient, Hailey, had an expander and braces in order to create space and align her teeth. Evening out the edges of her teeth was the icing on the cake of a beautiful new smile! 🧁😁

October is National Orthodontic Health Month! Parents often ask when they should bring their child for their first orthodontic visit. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that we see your child at age 7 or 8 so that we can evaluate any need for early treatment (like a palatal expander) and monitor the eruption of the adult teeth.

Dr. Lisa's son, Henry, is not quite ready for his first visit yet - we do recommended having SOME teeth before seeing the orthodontist 😆
