We are thrilled to announce that our department has received a research grant from WeRunWithYou to support brain aneurysm survivors return to the activities they love!
This grant will fund a community-based study focused on optimizing walking capacity in stroke survivors and will provide our DPT students with a valuable opportunity to gain insights into stroke recovery by working closely with participants alongside the research team!
A huge thank you to co-founders of WeRunWithYou Kathy Nguyen and Rob Alvarez for making this study possible!

The University of Delaware Physical Therapy Clinic is offering American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Certification & Recertification courses July 26th-27th!
The course provides comprehensive training that gives the participant the knowledge and skills needed to perform lifesaving interventions on critical patients. The course provides the necessary tools for the rescuer to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize injury during out-of-hospital medical and traumatic emergencies—while awaiting or alongside higher-level personnel at the scene.
This course fulfills the requirement for Acute Management of Athletic Injury and Illness Certification for the Board Certified Sports Specialist of the APTA.

Our DPT3s started their first full time clinical rotations this week! After 2 years of didactic work and integrated clinical experiences, they are more than ready to take on this new challenge and bring their skills and knowledge into the real world!
We are so excited to see all the great things they accomplish!!
The UD Stroke Studies Research Team was a sponsor this past weekend at the inaugural "Shine a Light on Stroke 5K Run/Walk" at Glasgow Park! The event was founded by Bridget Callahan and Bridget DiMaio!
Kenna Gilley (Stroke Research Registry Coordinator), Susanne Morton, PT, PhD (Associate Professor and Principal Stroke Research Investigator in the PT/BIOMS program), and Rebecca Hunting Pompon, PhD (Assistant Professor and Principal Research Investigator in the Aphasia and Rehabilitations Outcomes Lab/Communications Sciences and Disorders program) attended the event.
Many of the UD stroke research participants and their families participated in this great community event which raised over $35,000!

Michele Lobo, a UDPT professor and pediatric physical therapist, is working to create a smart baby monitor to help spot developmental delays earlier in childhood.

Congratulations to the team that worked on and presented the “Improving Walking Performance in Individuals with Chronic Stroke: PROWALKS Trial Results” platform!
