Many times when I open my Bible, I find myself in the book of Psalms and pray through the verses. As I do, a beautiful melody of God’s Truth rises up, and my worries fade. His perspective on what troubles me overshadows my anxiety.

In Psalm 81:10b, God instructs me, “Open wide your mouth and I will fill it” (NIV). This reminds me that He will give me what to say. What to say in happy moments and in aggravating moments. What to say when I feel insecure and what to say when I am confident. He also reminds me that sometimes it is good to say nothing at all as the Holy Spirit guides me in self-control.

Psalm 84:1 reminds me that God’s “dwelling place” is “lovely” (NIV). So I ask for Him to dwell in me richly. I want it to be evident that I’m a girl who spends time with Jesus and that He’s working on me.
Psalm 86:11 prompts me to say, “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”

Each of these verses leads me to a morning prayer I’ve been praying for years:

God, I want to see You.

God, I want to hear You.

God, I want to follow hard after You.

And I know …

God, You are good.

You are good to me.

You are good at being God.

Oh friend, we must exchange whispers with God before shouts with the world. Instead of immediately checking social media in the first moments of our day or diving right into our to-do lists, we can put God first by giving Him our first thoughts. I know that for me, every time I do, I’m more ready to face the day ahead of me than I was before.

How can you prioritize your time in God’s Word as you start your day?

Trusting God’s plan is the only secret I know in the gentle art of not freaking out.

I'm not sure what is making your emotions feel a little tangled today. But I do know when I spend a few minutes reminding myself of God's promises, it’s much easier to release all my worries back to Him.

“I know God can work all things for good,” I admit as we sit outside the coffee shop, hot mugs in our hands and warm sunshine on our backs. “I just wish He’d give me a glimpse of what He’s doing in all this.”

My friend doesn’t need a detailed definition of this. She’s walked me through a recent heartache and prayed with me for a miracle. She’s shown up with groceries, lattes and hugs and has refused to offer pithy platitudes when the outcome of our prayers hasn’t matched the longing of our hearts.
I pull a yellow slip of paper from my pocket and hand it to her so she can read my scribbles: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28, NIV).

I’ve turned Romans 8:28 into a prayer of faith, and I’ve waited expectantly for God to answer. Yet as my circumstances remain unchanging, my hope is slowly waning.

My conversations with God have begun to shift from I know You can take this mess and do something marvelous with it … to Where are You, and what are You doing?

As my friend and I sip our coffee, she speaks a gentle truth: “Even when we can’t see how God is working for our good, we can choose to see His goodness.”

She hands me her phone, and I read a pixelated promise splayed across the screen: “Yet I am confident I will see the LORD's goodness while I am here in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13).

I won’t stop believing God’s promise in Romans 8:28 and waiting in expectation.

Tomorrow I will pause to notice the Lord’s goodness. Because a wise friend is teaching me that even before we see God’s promised good, we can rejoice in His present goodness.

What are some moments of your day where you’ve seen God’s goodness in your life?

We don’t have to work our fingers to the bone and our emotions into a tangled fray trying to strategize, manipulate, control, or figure it all out, sweet friend.

Our job is to be obedient to God. God’s job is everything else.

What do you need to surrender to Him in prayer today?

... behind closed doors & behind brave smiles, there's a whole bunch of us marching on private battles nobody knows about, climbing hard mountains that nobody sees, wrestling tough things that nobody has any idea about. But us? We do hard & holy things. We stay in play. We stay in the game. *We stay in Him.* Because the really mattering part? The mattering part is that: Blessed is the one who perseveres & does the hard things.

Tough times *never last* but those who *hang on tight to God always do.*

Romans 15:13

Do you ever find yourself pleading with God to tell you what’s coming next?

Me, too, friend.

But I’m learning that no human is strong enough to withstand seeing too much of God’s plan in advance. It must be revealed daily. We must be led to it and through it slowly.

God sees things we can’t see. He knows things we don’t know. Only God knows what the good plan is and what it will take to get us there. And most of all He knows, if we saw the full road ahead, we would stop about halfway through and never choose to continue with His plan. We would think the cost is too high, the path too scary, the way too daunting, and the enemy too frightening.

Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus… choose to believe that God’s plans really are the best plans… and remind these fragile, human hearts of ours that we can trust Him at all times.

05/05/2023

Do you ever feel like you’ve prayed the same prayers over and over, with little to no change?

In your most private moments, you want to scream at the unfairness of it all — words you don’t use around your Bible friends. But then there are more hopeful moments … when you want to turn up the praise music, lift up honest prayers and declare God is good even when the situation doesn’t seem good.

Hurting but still hoping — that is the human journey.

And that is where we find David in Psalm 40. In the first 10 verses, David praised God for delivering him, but then in verses 11 through 17, he was crying out for God to deliver him again. David was hurting but still hoping.

Hoping doesn’t mean we ignore reality. No, hoping means we acknowledge reality in the very same breath that we acknowledge God’s sovereignty — His absolute ability and power to work as He sees best.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9

Are you struggling to trust God no matter how hard you try, friend?

Maybe you’re scared to trust God because the things you’ve trusted Him with before haven't worked out the way you thought they would…

Maybe the things in your life feel way too important to you to hand over to God…

Maybe you’ve been wildly disappointed with the outcome of past seasons where you’ve trusted God before…

Oh, friend, we know how hard it is to try and muster up enough faith to trust God again if you feel like He’s failed you in the past, but He is a faithful God who can be trusted despite the outcome.

Hebrews 10:23 tells us to, “hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

A lot of times we choose to trust God in hopes of a specific outcome but what if today we chose to trust Him just to trust Him?.....To fully put our assurance in who He is and what His word says about Him.

Let’s choose today to take God at His Word and place our trust back in His hands even if our past circumstances try to tell us otherwise!

Leave a 💜 if you’re choosing to trust Him again today!

Do you ever feel invisible, overlooked, or passed by?

Maybe you have been...

…overlooked for a promotion
…left out of a group of friends
…invisible at church
…ignored in conversation

Little by little, we begin to believe the lie that we unworthy to be seen and our hearts beginto withhold, withdraw and wither.

Oh, friend, if this feels all too familiar, we know how painful it is to experience these things. But while our feelings may be strong in response to these circumstances, Jesus gets final say over our worth and value.

God’s Word says in Psalm 16:8, “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” When we keep our eyes focused on Jesus and remind ourselves of who He says we are, we do not have to live shaken. The lies of the enemy may tempt us to believe we are unworthy, but God says otherwise.

Leave a 🙏 if you’re choosing today keep your eyes fixed on Him! He sees you, regardless of who does not.

I am so thankful for His love and grace! 🙌

TRUTH ❤

The world has changed right under out feet. But Jesus hasn't. He is the Eternal One. The SAME yesterday, today, and forever. - Greg Holder

The world is full of craziness. Some buried deep, some just hanging out blatantly for all to see. But guess what?

Jesus is THE SAME.

He STILL loves you. He STILL chooses you. He STILL wants you to reign with Him in heaven. He hasn't changed AND He will NEVER change.

So don't let the crazy get to you. Lean into the TRUTH that He is unchanging. ❤
