"She [the CASA volunteer] saw past the charges and my past mistakes. She knew I had some work to do before the boys could be placed back in my care. She knew the best place for the boys was with me. She advocated for us through all the highs and lows of the entire reunification process." A parent who was reunified with her children shared her story at last month's Georgia CASA Conference. Her journey was powerful, heart-breaking, and hope-giving. Her words reminded us of the impact one CASA volunteer can have on many lives.

Just wanted to share our updated Mission, Vision and Values that were approved by our board this week.
The Mission of Coweta CASA is to provide trained, qualified, court appointed volunteers to give children experiencing foster care a voice in court and advocate for their best interests in Coweta, Heard and Meriwether counties.
Our vision is to provide a CASA volunteer to every child experiencing foster care in our service area.
Values:
Child-Centered
We value children above all else. Every child in foster care deserves a voice speaking up for their best interests, to ensure their rights are respected and they have a safe, loving, permanent home.
Family-Focused
We seek quality services for the entire family. We believe in prioritizing strengthened, reunified families. We believe in the value of sibling bonds and that siblings should remain together. We believe in utilizing extended family involvement to meet the best interests of children in foster care.
Inclusive
We believe families have diverse cultural experiences which should be recognized and respected. We believe that every individual has worth. We commit to empower each other with dignity and to seek equity.
Collaborative
We value working with our stakeholders, other professionals, community supports, and families to pursue sustainable improvements and quality change for children and families.
We are supportive of our parents in Family Treatment Court! Two of our participants are raising funds or taking in kind donations of personal hygiene products to help ladies in treatment at Right Side Up women’s facility. If you’d like to donate in kind, you can drop off donations at CASA or Coweta DFCS.
Reunification is a key goal for children in foster care. CASA volunteers work tirelessly to support families and reunite children with their parents whenever possible. Your involvement can help families reunite.
"It's National Family Fun Month! Reunification of children with their families is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work. Help us make more happy reunions possible by becoming a CASA volunteer.
