SUPER EXCITED we were able to get this installed over the weekend!
Our community garden at Bridging the Gap is in full swing for the 2nd summer.
Now, we finally have our “FREE MARKET stand”.
🥗🥦🫛🫑🌶️🍠🥒🍆
The purpose of this stand is to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for our community residents who might not normally have access to these items.
Maybe it is due to the cost of the items or lack of housing to grow them - we partnered with Bridging the Gap to help “lighten” the load. Now we need some additional partners to help us provide free 💚FRESH 💚veggies to help keep it stocked.
If you or a neighbor has extra tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, squash etc that you won’t be using - feel free to drop off at the stand.
**PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT a food pantry- so only home grown fruits/veggies!!**
If you are interested in helping us grow more here on site, please send an email to [email protected] or [email protected]
Pictures with signage to come soon. 😀😍

DAY 2 - ♻️ Reusing what we already have is the best way to reduce plastic waste and our eco-footprint. It's simple, cost-effective, and makes a big impact. Before buying new, consider taking a look around home —you might be surprised by what you can repurpose.

Here are some popular ideas to get started:
-repurposing glass jars for pantry storage containers or homemade sauces
-making a reusable kit including utensils from the kitchen to keep in a handbag, backpack, picnic basket or camping kit
-instead of using single-use containers, bringing tupperware or other kitchen containers when getting takeaway or buying deli items

By choosing to reuse, you’re not only reducing the demand for new products but also keeping existing materials in use for longer. It’s a small change that adds up, helping to cut down on the energy and resources needed to produce new items as well as reducing waste that ends up in landfills. 🗑️

Conservation is a good idea all the time! 💙 Find ways to reduce your water usage.💚 Take shorter showers, turn off the water while brushing your teeth, don’t use sprinklers, and combine smaller loads of laundry. Use your rain barrels or half drunk water bottles for outside plants.

In celebration of Waste and Recycling Workers Week, GRC is highlighting our hometown recycling heroes!

Meet our hometown compost hero, Ryan Czarnonycz !

This August, Ryan will celebrate his five year work anniversary at Compost Now. In that time, he has worked on both the residential sprinter driver team and the commercial box truck driver team, where he also works to train fellow team members. He brings smiles, patience, and meticulous note taking to every one of his stops and is known, and even thanked with gifts of free food, by many of the members he serves.

Ryan and his spouse, Rose, have three sons, Liam, Rowan, and Odin. When he’s not working at CompostNow, he is an active homesteader and farmer, tending to his bountiful garden and farm animals including goats, chickens, duck, quail, and a cow.

Join us in thanking Ryan for his dedication to protecting Georgia's environment. Leave a thank you message to Ryan in the comments below and don't forget to share so others will learn more about his story! ♻️👏

Buying Dad a new grill? How about a new drill? Here a few tips to recycle right this Father's Day:

If you are replacing an old grill, contact your waste hauler or local solid waste department to schedule a bulky item pick-up for the old grill or find the nearest location to drop-off the grill.

Buying Dad a new drill? Don't toss rechargeable batteries in the trash or with the recycling. Make Dad proud and take used rechargeable batteries to the nearest drop location. Find the nearest recycling site at https://www.call2recycle.org/locator/

Replacing Dad's phone or computer? Don't place the old phone or computer in the trash or in with your recyclables. These items can create a fire hazard in the truck, at the recycling center, or at the landfill. Take the items to your nearest drop-off location for electronics recycling, or check with the business where you purchase the new item to see if they take back old devices for recycling.
Happy Father's Day!

Have you ever noticed water rushing down the streets after a storm?

That’s stormwater runoff—a mixture of rain or melted snow flowing over surfaces like roads and sidewalks.

We had so much fun at Boy Scout Camp today. Thank you for inviting us!

The Outdoor Classroom is a lot more fun when our visiting friends leave all of the pieces behind after playing -without the shoe laces the littles can’t thread the buttons in this bucket and our fun “glass” see through pieces are quickly disappearing. 😫 We❤️ it when things are messy and a few pieces - go missing because that means we have children playing outside. However, if your littles accidentally take something home- please try to bring it back next time you are near… Thank you 🎄
