The Newnan Times-Herald reports the news using unbiased, nonpartisan journalism to help the residents of Coweta County gain awareness and insight into their community and make informed decisions that will improve the quality of their lives.
Coweta County will have one fewer road.
The Coweta County Board of Commissioners approved the abandonment of Lullwater Place at its Tuesday night meeting.
The road is located within the Lullwater subdivision, which is off of Clearwater Road near the town of Sharpsburg.

Scammers are becoming more clever over the phone and calling victims claiming to be from the Coweta County Sheriff's Department.
Kimberly Burroughs Debrow, partner at Strickland Debrow LLP in Newnan, said she recently received a call from someone claiming to be from the CCSO saying she failed to report as a federal grand jury juror.
“That was red flag number one,” Debrow said in an email statement. “Then, he also stated that he was transferring me to a clerk, which was when I knew it was bogus. But before then, he confirmed my address, knew my whole name and used legal terminology such as, ‘bench warrant,’ ‘summons,’ etc.”
Sgt. Toby Nix with the CCSO said he receives several calls per week about these types of scams.
“They’re getting more clever,” Nix said.
Courts or law enforcement do not ask people to provide personal information over the phone such as social security numbers, credit card numbers or any other sensitive information, Nix said. Courts or law enforcement also will not call consumers asking them to pay money for missing jury duty.
To report a scam, call The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office at 770-253-1502.

The Belmont Park community has become a battleground as some residents accused the board members of using the fines to punish other property owners they didn’t approve of or like. Residents took sides.
Local residents of the Belmont Park community contacted Sen. Matt Brass in 2023, and he attended a meeting with them to discuss their issues.
Debt is not a reason to keep someone from voting. In Georgia, it takes being convicted of a felony to keep someone from voting in the public elections, Brass added.

Two outstanding Coweta institutions, the Coweta Community Foundation, and Senoia Area Historical Society, work every day to make our county a great place to live!
Look who's in the The Newnan Times-Herald? SAHS Board member alternate, John Wood-Realtor. John recently attended the Coweta Community Foundation grant writing workshop on behalf of SAHS. Thank you John for your hard work!
It all started with the idea of a simple rest stop.
Every family stops during a long road trip to get out and stretch a bit before continuing the journey. The Georgia Bulldog football team was no different.
In the early 1970s, the Bulldogs sought a stopping spot on their every-other-year road trip to the plains of Alabama to play the Auburn Tigers. The four-hour bus needed a midpoint with easy off-and-on access to Interstate 85.
While Newnan seemed like a good spot, someone within the Georgia Athletic Department sealed the deal.
Norma Haynes was called to duty to spread the word. She was an officer in Newnan’s Georgia Bulldog Club and oversaw a telephone committee to promote the event.
