🎉📚 Celebrating Success at Patrick Henry Elementary! 📚🎉

What a special graduation for 11 bright young minds from our Literacy Project at Patrick Henry Elementary in Anaheim!

A standout star of this graduation is Sofia, whose reading skills have soared by an astonishing 40.88%! 🚀 Sofia's dedication and resilience are truly awe-inspiring, and her journey fills us with immense pride.

But what truly warms our hearts is the gratitude expressed by the parents we had the privilege of meeting. Their heartfelt appreciation for the positive impact our program has had on their children's lives is a powerful reminder of the meaningful difference we can make when we come together to support education.

A heartfelt thank you to our Master teacher, Anna Luna, whose passion has transformed lives and made this graduation extra special for all of us.

Congratulations to the graduates, families, and everyone involved in this incredible journey towards literacy! Your achievements fill us with pride and hope for a brighter future. Here's to many more success stories!

BELIEVE 📖 DREAM 💫 SOAR 🚀
It was truly heartwarming to witness the joy and pride as we honored the graduation of the children from the Literacy Project at Cesar Chavez School in Coachella.

I am profoundly grateful to Mrs. Eleanor Mitchell for her boundless dedication and selfless commitment. Her tireless efforts have not only empowered these young learners but have also planted the seeds of a lifelong love for reading within them.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Brianna Uhlhorn and the Anderson Foundation for standing beside us in this noble cause. Your generous contributions have truly made a difference, offering hope and opportunity to many children in need.

Together, we are not just teaching children to read; we are opening doors to endless possibilities and brighter futures. Let's continue to spread the gift of literacy and education.

The Literacy Project Staff,

Having this program afterschool has been a great success and we would like to continue next school year. Yesterday, at Open House, parents came up to Anna to thank her for helping with their students' reading.

📚Thank you Sue Grant for sharing the information about the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books! Today, I took my daughter to the festival at the University of Southern California and we had an amazing time. It was heartwarming to see my daughter's love of reading, and the festival provided a great way to celebrate our shared interest.

📚The festival had a multitude of book stalls and art, along with some inspiring speakers and delicious food trucks. We had a blast exploring and immersing ourselves in the literary world.

📚Overall, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books was an incredible experience and a must-visit for book lovers.

State educators chime in on the nation’s — and Utah’s — lagging literacy rates.

During the 2022-23 school year, less than half of Utah students in grades 1-3 were reading at their expected grade level, according to a report from the Utah State Board of Education. Following such reports, educators and parents across the state have begun to express concern.

Utah isn’t alone in its struggles with early literacy rates. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, 66% of students in grades 1-3 nationwide are also not meeting the reading level for their grade.

Our 2024 board of director’s meeting last week represented our 15th anniversary of The Literacy Project! I cannot believe that time has flown by so fast, and it seems like yesterday that hosted our first school program in Orange County. We thank Boys & Girls Clubs, William Lyon School at Orangewood, Project Hope, and Anaheim Achieves for being the collaborations that helped launch The Literacy Project!

Some 10,500 new readers later, we are very proud of every aspect of our agency and are grateful to our village of passionate supporters who made it happen! Here are some impressive statistics to share with you. We have served over 10,500 kids with a “free” reading program that not only improved reading skills up to grade level but also increased self-confidence by 85.6%. We raised in excess of $5 million dollars to support our education system. We promoted family literacy and donated $1.9 million of “The New Phonics Game” reading product to our graduates. With the help of Disney Resort and other various publishers, we donated new books to every student to build home libraries.

We are just getting our stride! With a powerful and influential board like ours, the sky is the limit and our energy and focus promise an exciting path ahead of us.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen! There are many ways to save the life of a child, the gift of literacy is one of them!

This tells our story….thank you!♥️

Laura and Literacy Project,

Thank you for making reading fun! You've taken the boring out of redundancy by making repetition a game. Working with reading literacy gave my son tools to work through his reading frustrations by creating understanding in a fun social environment. We enjoy the game that the program gave our son and have played it with siblings and cousins.
Thanks again, and well wishes with helping other children discover the joys of reading.
